Gault05 Posted February 21, 2016 Posted February 21, 2016 Is there a useful thread or link or a system on how to make a howitzer battery fire on command inside a given zone range? Havin some serious trouble getting it to work here. Gault05 Posted February 23, 2016 Author Posted February 23, 2016 If its because I'm using an outdated dcs, read the sig. Please, is there a way or not? Grimes Posted February 23, 2016 Posted February 23, 2016 The 1.2.16 mission editor has mostly the same features available that the 1.5 editor has. Though there are a few things missing, the biggest of which is the 1.2.16 editor can't really read 1.5 files, so I can't create a working example to show you how to do it. From your brief description it just looks like you want an artillery piece to fire at a given target when commanded. To do that is pretty easy and just requires 3 steps. 1. Assign the target. Select your artillery group and go to the "Triggered Actions" tab which is directly above the waypoint info panel. Click Add and then choose Type: Perform Task, and action "Fire At Point." You will get a little triangle showing the point that will be targeted, move it where desired and set the radius as needed. 2. Go to the triggers page, its the 3rd button down from "MIS" on the left buttons panel. Click "New" on the left column and then click new again for "Conditions" and "actions". Under conditions set the type to be "Time less" and leave it at its default value. For the actions set the type to "Radio Item Add". Set the name to be "Call in Arty" or whatever you want. 3. Create another trigger via the same process. This time set the condition to be "Flat is True" and leave it at its default value. For the action select "AI Task Push". In this new action there will be a dropdown menu, you should see an option with the name of the arty group and "Fire at Point" also listed. Now play the mission. Open your radio menu and there should be an option under "F10". When you select the option it sets the flag to true which in turn tells the arty group to attack. If they are in range and you are spectating them you will see the barrels rise and aim toward the target. After about 3 minutes they will start shooting. The right man in the wrong place makes all the difference in the world. Gault05 Posted February 26, 2016 Author Posted February 26, 2016 Ok, I get it somewhat. But here's another question. Say I(or my flight) enter into a given zone range, but I don't want my artillery support to fire when I'm inside that zone. I want them to hold their barrels in place of the firing point until I command them to throughout the radio menu. And once I'm out of the zone, their barrels are back in place. How or what do I do then? Edit: Also, I keep getting repeated radio messages from the radio menu when I did it the first few times with the instructions. How do I stop that from happening? Grimes Posted February 26, 2016 Posted February 26, 2016 Ok, I get it somewhat. So you want them to be 'aiming' at the target but not firing unless you say so? And when you leave the zone the AI stop aiming at said target? The best way to do something like that is to create a few more tasks and triggers. One of the tasks is to change the groups Rules of Engagement. This basically determines if the AI is allowed to shoot. The thing is I'm not 100% certain the group will actively aim at a target when their ROE is set to hold fire. Switched Condition>All of Group out of Zone(your group and target zone> Flag 10 On and Flag 11 off Switched Condition> Part of Group in zone(your group and target zone> Flag 10 Off and Push AI task(Fire at point) and Push AI task(ROE = weapons hold) Once> Time More 5> Add Command(whatever and set flag 11 on) Switched Condition> Flag 11 is True> Push AI task(ROE Weapons free) For the fire at point task you will need to add a "Stop Condition". Tick "Is Use Flag" type in the number 10 in the little box. This means that when flag 10 is true (your whole flight left the zone) the task to fire at point will be stopped automatically. Edit: Also, I keep getting repeated radio messages from the radio menu when I did it the first few times with the instructions. How do I stop that from happening? That means you've added the command more than once. Check the triggers to see if more than "Add Command" is present. If there is only one look at the conditions for that command to try and figure out if it is repeating itself multiple times. The right man in the wrong place makes all the difference in the world. Gault05 Posted February 28, 2016 Author Posted February 28, 2016 Could the same method be used also for air support to attack ground targets, or would that be a different style? And why on flag 10 and such? Case:NZXT S340 Mid Tower;Motherboard:MSi B550 Pro Series ATX;CPU:AMD Ryzen 5 5600 6-core with Wraith Stealth Cooler;Memory:Gigastone 64GB;Hard Drive:Barracuda 2TB Hard Drive; Sound:Asus Xonar DGX; Power:Corsair RMe 750w PSU; GPU: MSI GeForce Ventus 12GB w/OC Modules: Flaming Cliffs 2024, P-51D, Combined Arms, Black Shark 3, A-10C/2, WW2 Assets, F/A-18C, F-16C Viper, AH-64D, Supercarrier, China Assets Pack, Maps: Persian Gulf, Syria, Marianas, Sinai
