Has anyone some good Axis numbers for L-39 and Saitek X52 controllers that improve performance. So far my experiments have not gotten good results that they can share.

I wouldn't say my settings 'improve performance' but I'm using -

  • Roll and Pitch curves = 10
  • Roll, Pitch and Rudder dead zones = 1

I added the curves mainly to give finer control for take-off rotation and crosswind landings.

Why you are unhappy with your current results ?

Take-offs are pretty good provided I add the correct trim and use the correct speeds

For example L-39C with no tip tank fuel + 2xUB-16 (and L-39ZA with a full fuel load and 4xUB-16)

  • Gross Weight 4577 kg (ZA 5212 kg)
  • Elevator trim - 2 marks aft
  • Take-off speed 191 km/h (204 km/h)
  • Rotation speed (-19 km/h) 172 km/h (185 km/h)
  • Obstacle Clearance speed (15m AGL) 236 km/h (251 km/h)

If overly aggressive with the stick - I can enter a stall as the X-52 Pro/sim doesn't give the slight airframe buffet/vibration feedback of the real aircraft but otherwise I always feel in control.

I've no experience of the real aircraft though and expect iterative improvements to the flight model to continue as pilots and players give ED feedback.

My biggest problem is engine anywhere close to 100%, nose wants to rise and no amount of pitch trim helps. During takeoff, nose leaves the runway somewhere around 75K with full nose down trim and takeoff flaps, which is not normal for the L-39. When flying at normal 85% or below, pitch trim works, but too much is required with my Saitek X52 pro to fly like a "real-world" L-39C. Did some flying yesterday with friend's (real L-39C pilot) L-39C in FSX with different controllers and everything worked great and as it should. He has also flown my L-39 and notes that this not right. Seems like this must be a problem with the Saitek controllers?

Would like to have feedback from other DSC L-39 simmers using Saitek X52 pro HOTAS.
