Puma Posted February 28, 2016 Posted February 28, 2016 Maple flag aft0....4? Aar night. Landing in very low vis situation. Wingman request divert into Batumi because his ils is broken. Divert ok, and I get horizontal ils guidance but no vertical. What could cause this? One guess is that I was pretty high on the slope. So maybe I was above it by so much it never showed up? NeilWillis Posted February 28, 2016 Posted February 28, 2016 Correct, you need to be looking to the left hand side of the ADI, where you will see a small white arrow pinned either to the top or bottom of the display. When you get close to the glide slope, the arrow will move closer to the centre, and when it is almost centred, the yellow bar will come alive in the ADI too. If you are beyond 14 miles, the system will not work as you are out of it's operating range.

SharpeXB Posted February 29, 2016 Posted February 29, 2016 (edited) On the Navigation Select Mode Panel, just to the left of the EGI button, there's a switch labeled "PTR" which enables the pitch and roll steering bars. Switch this to "Able" to see the yellow bars on your ADI The best way to intercept the glide slope is to just fly level at the pattern altitude, 2,500' for Batumi and watch the carat then start to fall down your display as you intercept the slope. Then just reduce your throttle to stay on it.
