KansasCS Posted March 8, 2016 Author Posted March 8, 2016 further reading. When I start DCS normally and it does its standard update search, the window closes and nothing happens. But when I want to install the Dora or put a -repair behind the path, it times out.
sslechta Posted March 8, 2016 Posted March 8, 2016 Working for me at the moment: ping www.digitalcombatsimulator.com Pinging digitalcombatsimulator.com [87.98.182.202] with 32 bytes of data: Reply from 87.98.182.202: bytes=32 time=121ms TTL=48 Reply from 87.98.182.202: bytes=32 time=120ms TTL=48 Reply from 87.98.182.202: bytes=32 time=119ms TTL=48 Reply from 87.98.182.202: bytes=32 time=119ms TTL=48 Have you checked to see if your firewall is blocking it? KansasCS Posted March 9, 2016 Author Posted March 9, 2016 (edited) Ping is fine. [edit]: Just to rule out the fact that it might be caused by a recently acquired copy of the Dora via a private sale, I unistalled the Mig15( I could have chosen any other module) and tried reinstallling it. Whats interesting is the fact that after uninstalling the Mig15, I had to manually start DCS again. As if it quietly crashed after removing the module. Trying to reinstall it I get the same error. I also tried logging on and off again ingame, still, I can't install modules. Edited March 9, 2016 by KansasCS
KansasCS Posted March 10, 2016 Author Posted March 10, 2016 problem solved. It was Malware related. I did a complete scan of the system and picked up several bad adware and spyware programs. Apparently, other updaters were afflicted as well, including my AV.
sslechta Posted March 10, 2016 Posted March 10, 2016 Glad you got it fixed as my next suggestion would have been to do a complete DCS reinstall. Nice detective work! johnnypropeller Posted October 10, 2017 Posted October 10, 2017 Just had the same problem. It was malware related too. I Ran a scan with MalwareBytes and cleaned it up. Solved the Problem. Thanks to KansasCS for the Feedback
