Oceandar Posted April 3, 2016 Posted April 3, 2016 (edited) Most people tend to forget in A-10 is how to defend yourself against air and ground threats. Learn defensive maneuver and the system. Dav IRL Posted April 3, 2016 Posted April 3, 2016 Hey guys, I just downloaded this game yesterday.. Only vaguely familiar with flight sims. But now that I have a decent gaming computer, I decided to give it another go, and it seems like most people agree that DCS is the, "flight simmiest" of flight sims. Im so new, my joystick hasn't even gotten here yet. That being said, I have a few questions.. I have watched several videos / tutorials on youtube, and still this game feels very over-my-head. I feel as though I need to be an air force pilot in order to know what all I have to do before I take off.. Let alone once im in the air, navigate properly. It looks like people that play this game would just get frustrated with me. My question is, what can I do to help myself along the quickest? I see several versions of this game, including A-10C / WW2 version / versions 1, 1.5 / 1.5 beta / 2... can someone explain these differences to me? Lastly, is there a teamspeak that people use, or are there clans in this game, so I can talk to real people? I would very much like to have someone who is very familiar with this game, train me, or at least coach me along so im not just playing this game like a dummy. I know this is a lot, and I am super confused by everything, so any help is very much appreciated. I would also like to hear your starting out stories, am I alone in this? Hey dude. It is indeed the best sim ever just remember it is also a study sim. I suggest learning and sticking with one aircraft. Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk 4.8 I7, 1080, TMW&T, SSD, VKB MK.IV.
Itcharoo Posted April 3, 2016 Posted April 3, 2016 hey i started like 4 days ago too... i have a question. i'm being hit by this common problem where the aircraft rolls to the left. everyone on the web playing DCS experiences this. how do i get rid of this problem? Sometimes people miss the set takeoff trim at startup it can help to also check your axis settings like mentioned earlier but I find that simple little button at the start can cause trouble when your starting out!
MikeMikeJuliet Posted April 27, 2016 Posted April 27, 2016 Guys, guys, guys... Hold your horses. Here's Chuck starting to learn the basics and within 3 pages of forum posts we are already talking in abbreviations and terms that he propably does not even know. Chuck, if you need help getting started, PM me or one of the other gentlemen here. I first played the original Lock on back in 2007 (of which DCS World later evolved from) and I have been testing all the systems within the Su25T quite thoroughly lately too, so I for one can get you started on the free-to-play side of the sim, as well as the Flaming cliffs 3 (FC3 for short) module. Now unfortunately I'm not necessarily able to help at too short a notice since I'm quite busy at times, but I will do my best. If you have alredy gotten to fly and are on your way (since your original post is from last month), I wish you all the best in the virtual skies. Cheers. DCS Finland | SF squadron
