If I go into settings and edit my controls, as soon as I hit Ok, the screen goes black and stays there. I've tried to run a repair, but it didn't help any. The only way to get it to respond at all is to Alt+F4 or close it via Task Manager, but doing that erases any changes that were made. I know of at least one other person that has this exact bug.

You either imported some bad controls from previous version or you have an error in your controls diff files from user folder.

I experienced this also when I tried to import for example controls from 1.5 in 2.0 or the other way around. Not with all planes but just the ones that had serious changes like new controls added or controls duplicated in function/keys.

Sometimes the planes/modules come with errors in the controls by default and they are cleaned after few patches. To spot the errors... after game restart go to your plane controls page and scroll all the list and see where red boxes are... normally those are the errors. Many times is enough to clear those controls and restart the game. Other times it needs to delete your diff files. For this, navigate to:

C:\Users\YOUR NAME\Saved Games\DCS\Config\Input\ and either delete the whole folder of the plane affected or enter it and delete only what you think is erroneous (joystick files or keyboard etc). Then restart the game and clear all controls it will automatically do (use clear category button to clear each joystick column, don't forget the axes) then carefully place your choices back.

Don't put all the buttons at once... from time to time do a restart o the game and observe if you get the black screen again so you can narrow down where the error might be produced.

Sometimes the modules have errors in the controls files, example:

\DCS World\Mods\aircraft\L-39C\Input\L-39ZA

or worse in the script files from (example: \DCS World\Mods\aircraft\L-39C\Cockpit) in the last case if you can't spot the error and correct it then you need to wait for a patch.
