cfarsr Posted March 24, 2016 Posted March 24, 2016 I'm at a complete loss on this one. There are a plethora of targets out there but it doesn't seem to matter which ones we go after. The mission card says that JTAC should be available on 30 and 31 however they're not there. Boar flight shows up after my flight takes out the JTAC requests on 127.5 (a few minutes before the end of VUL) but they never attack anything. Springfield simply never becomes an option. I'm obviously doing something wrong, show me the light
Sabre-TLA Posted March 25, 2016 Posted March 25, 2016 That's the kill box mission so as per the mission brief you are to interdict targets of opportunity within the kill box. This PO will require you to patrol a Kill Box and eliminate any targets of opportunity. You will be given a 2nd element of A-10Cs to help eliminate targets. Do not engage targets outside the Kill Box. This mission is testing your ability to understand target locations in relationship to the designated kill box area. You have to kill some targets to pass the mission and you can also use your wingmen to engage other targets as well (but their kills don't count toward your passing the mission). So it's really a hunter killer type mission where you get to play both hunter and killer and have some extra flights to engage with if desired. I'll have to check the status of the other flights because if they are in the mission they are usually setup to target something (likely outside your kill box). Let us know how it goes and we can adjust the mission accordingly. MapleFlagMissions - Read Our Blog for Updates
cfarsr Posted March 25, 2016 Author Posted March 25, 2016 I see in the documents: KILL BOX: BKB001JFLCC 71 MM Can we input this into the CDU somehow or are we to just use our eyeballs outside of the cockpit?

We've never tried that so I don't think it will work but what you can do is put some mark points around the kill box ahead of time so you can see where the boundaries are. Alternatively study the maps and pick out some key contact points like the edges of towns, roads, forests, etc and when airborne locate those and then make the mark points then. It's really up to you to decide. MapleFlagMissions - Read Our Blog for Updates
