wilbur81 Posted April 1, 2016 Posted April 1, 2016 Hey, fellas. Question regarding the Apg-63 display in the real F-15C: Does the radar actually display circles and rectangles for IFF purposes when displaying contacts as it is simulated in DCS or is this just an FC3-esque feature? i7 8700K @ Stock - Win11 64 - 64gb RAM - RTX 3080 12gb OC
wilbur81 Posted April 1, 2016 Author Posted April 1, 2016 Nope, the real thing does it as well Cool. Is it using the engine-fan-reflection library that NCTR employs, or typical transponder driven IFF interrogation (or something else)? i7 8700K @ Stock - Win11 64 - 64gb RAM - RTX 3080 12gb OC
Sweep Posted April 1, 2016 Posted April 1, 2016 Cool. Is it using the engine-fan-reflection library that NCTR employs, or typical transponder driven IFF interrogation (or something else)? Automagic IFF. Also, NCTR doesn't have any aspect limitations in-game... :( (it is limited to 25nmi and can't ID targets at the gimbal, though.) Lord of Salt
GGTharos Posted April 1, 2016 Posted April 1, 2016 There's no reason for NCTR to be aspect limited without knowing the technology used. It could be using the JEM for NCTR, it could be using other things ... and it could also be fusing information. (And BTW, F-15 has a third AAI (IFF if you prefer) symbol in RL ... 'enemy') [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Reminder: SAM = Speed Bump :D I used to play flight sims like you, but then I took a slammer to the knee - Yoda
