BitMaster Posted October 25, 2016 Posted October 25, 2016 Seems to be a Layout issue rather than X99 shortcoming, under which circumstances Asus is actually the one to blame for not fitting enough 5V Caps on the board, pennies.... They now advertise the new boards with a "new" feature: Extra 5V HIGH-END Caps for USB !!!! I don't wonder why :) Gigabyte Aorus X570S Master - Ryzen 5900X - Gskill 64GB 3200/CL14@3600/CL14 - Sapphire Nitro+ 7800XT - 4x Samsung 980Pro 1TB - 1x Samsung 870 Evo 1TB - 1x SanDisc 120GB SSD - Heatkiller IV - MoRa3-360LT@9x120mm Noctua F12 - Corsair AXi-1200 - TiR5-Pro - Warthog Hotas - Saitek Combat Pedals - Asus XG27ACG QHD 180Hz - Corsair K70 RGB Pro - Win11 Pro/Linux - Phanteks Evolv-X
BitMaster Posted October 25, 2016 Posted October 25, 2016 I still run 2 Asus WS boards myself, both i7-920 with rocksolid Asus tripple channel DDR3 Workstation boards for years. The 3rd one I owned I sold many many years ago to a customer ( Q6600 based, DONT LAUGH !! ) and it still runs 24/7/365 as a Win2008R2 SRV with 15 SAS Drives on an Adaptec SAS Raid Controller, active ISDN card, etc.. ROCK SOLID. Think it is 7 or 8 years by now in 24/7/2008/9-2016. I run Asus since 1993 exclusively my self, only sell Asus and there hasnt been a handfull of boards that went dead in those 2+ decades, most ran until they got sorted out for newer systems. Still, that USB thing on X99 is a shame, top-of-the-line board being faulty by design :( Last issue I recall was P4C-800 motherboard, those were crap as well, cant recall any other.
