TMatzelle60 Posted April 16, 2016 Posted April 16, 2016 (edited) I am wondering since i am building in the RVZ02 Mini ITX case should i go with 6600 (Non K) and GTX 980 or the i7 6700 (Non K) and GTX 980. This is for 1080P gaming. I am concerned the 6600 will not be good enough for gaming even if it is clocked .1mhz lower then the i7. Reason for non k is because of the case. Other games i will be playing is arma 3, FSX, Squad. Kinda worried if i don't get the i7 it the 6600 will perform like crap. Even though in years past i never OC the K processor. Demon_ Posted April 16, 2016 Posted April 16, 2016 (edited) 0.1Ghz? The cpu frequency impact on fps is only at 7.24% at 4.0Ghz. You can expect 1-2 fps lower. Purchase the K and overclock at 4.0Ghz. Easier than piloted a Dora. Edited April 16, 2016 by Demon_ Attache ta tuque avec d'la broche.
TMatzelle60 Posted April 17, 2016 Author Posted April 17, 2016 Please reread why i said i can't get a k processor
Demon_ Posted April 17, 2016 Posted April 17, 2016 (edited) Reason for non k is because of the case. Sorry, i don't understand. A light overclock is only few more watts. Edited April 17, 2016 by Demon_ Attache ta tuque avec d'la broche.
TMatzelle60 Posted April 17, 2016 Author Posted April 17, 2016 The RVZ02 and NH-L9i is low profile and small console like case.
Rangi Posted April 17, 2016 Posted April 17, 2016 You won't be able to extreme overclock with that fan but a modest overclock will run fine. I would go for the 6600 unless there are multi thread things you want to do with the pc. PC: 6600K @ 4.5 GHz, 12GB RAM, GTX 970, 32" 2K monitor.
Hadwell Posted April 17, 2016 Posted April 17, 2016 intel CPUs don't generate a lot of heat, generally, as long as you don't up the voltage, you can just keep upping the clock till it BSOD's running prime95 for a few hours. really you only need to worry about heat if you start screwing with voltages. What happens if you OC is that your CPU draws far more Volts than you think, LLC to HIGH or EXTREME will juice some 25-50Watts more in to it. Still, not that it wont work, but dont assume u have full control over the CPU's Voltage, you dont. I'd give it a decent watercooler and clock the hell out of it. Also the 980 is a superb overclocker, 15% more is doable, at least with my 980 wc'ed. Demon_ Posted April 17, 2016 Posted April 17, 2016 The i7 3770K generate 92w (Prime95) at 4.4Ghz. 15w more than at stock speed. DCS need only 60w. I use the offset mode. Attache ta tuque avec d'la broche.
