Hello DCS forum I'm new here and I must say that DCS is an amazing simulator with much great potential ahead in its days. Thank You for such a fine product.

There is one thing that I'm wondering with future models you are currently developing and or going to make in the future, (F/A-18C) for example will there be real SEAD missions for these aircraft ?? What I mean by this is that will the Wild Weasel capability be truly modeled in the sim ?? By forcing SAM radars off the air by firing a HARM at it and them not keeping their radars on ??

I currently am involved in Falcon BMS and the HARM missile along with the HTS pod just doesn't seem like the ones in R/L based off my research and talking to guys on BMS forum. So I was just wondering will SAM activity be like it is in real life ? You guys seem to very accurately simulate the weapons pretty damn good. Also will there be an actual Integrated Air Defense Network modeled ??

I do apologize for the 20 questions but I'm excited about DCS and with the good job that you do now I just had to ask about the Electronic Warfare aspect of the simulator ?? Again Thank You for the amazing product and keep up the good work. :pilotfly::thumbup::)

Welcome to DCS.

Unfortunately SEAD and Wild Weaseling is not really reflected in the Vanilla DCS. You can put in some AI Hornets or Tornados, which fire their HARMs and destroy radar systems or you jump into a Su-25T and do it your self from the other side, but thats currently it.

If you want to have a better SEAD experience, which means going over the SAM side and drop a bomb on it, after you forced the radar off with some Slapshots, preying that the HARM goes roughly in the right direction and scares off the radar crew enough to pull the plug, you have to tweak you mission with some well made user scripts. Here you have to look in the forum for keywords:

-IADS Script by Grimes (script for simulating IADS systems, makes the SEAD a little more realistically)

-Guardians of the Caucasus from MBot (this is a dynamic campaign script, which includes a scirpt which switches off the radars sides as soon as Magnum is called, so it is not directly Wild Weaseling, but simulates the issue to some degree)

At the end of the day, your SEAD experience depends largely on the community made missions and scripts. But with the right mission package (mission+IADS+some modded version of MBots force radar off script) it can be much fun to try to get over an SA-10 side.

Actually this a is VERY realistic interpretation of Wild Weasel work. During Operation Allied Force, we were refueling F-16CJs one evening and discovered that even though our receivers made multiple "MAGNUM" calls, both returned with their HARMs. I asked Lead about this over boom Interphone. He told me they knew they were being monitored by missile crews. "As soon as the missile crews hear MAGNUM they pull the plug...wait a few moments and power back up."

Sometime that few moments was all a strike package needed to get out of a site threat ring. Now, If the radar didn't shut down immediately, or there was a launch indication they'd actually fire. Their reasoning was they are there to remove the missile "threat" if they can remove the threat without using a million dollar missile...why not.

Viper Pilot by Dan Hampton describes that tactic in it also. Knew they were being listened to by the operators. Thought it was pretty good.

What I was actually asking is as they made more models for the user to enjoy would they actually incorporate these things into the sim...like the Hornet carries HARM and when they come out with it I'm pretty sure the user will be able to use them, right ?? So if the availability is there what about the realm around the weapon, know what I mean ??

Of course I knew not now as there is no other aircraft but Su-25 but I meant when they make the Hornet or the Falcon. So any ideas as to them doing something like this in the near future ????
