kaizersoldier Posted April 23, 2016 Posted April 23, 2016 (edited) I may be missing the entire point, but when I choose to fly any mission with any of the aircraft, I end up on a map. I tried looking for this problem \ instruction on how to fly any free flight or mission but cannot seem to find anyone with same "problem" What am I doing wrong? Even if I use mission editor, I end up watching from the outside the aircraft I am supposed to fly? I am on the latest build of Nevada map. Edited April 23, 2016 by BIGNEWY TITLE
nomdeplume Posted April 23, 2016 Posted April 23, 2016 I think the two most common causes are: 1) the flight you're in has a later start time than the mission time or 2) you don't have the required module activated/installed. For #1 most of the pre-packaged missions shouldn't have that issue, although apparently one of the M-2000C missions doesn't spawn the player until 2 minutes in. If you're using the mission editor, make sure you don't adjust the start time of your flight; use the briefing dialog to adjust the time the actual mission starts. For #2, you could go into the module manager and make sure everything looks right, and do a repair (shortcut in the start menu) to make sure it's installed properly. You could also potentially run the copy-protect programs manually. They mostly live under the DCS installation directory in Mods\aircraft\aircraft name\bin, though I think some modules use the dcs_protect.exe in the main bin\ directory.
kaizersoldier Posted April 23, 2016 Author Posted April 23, 2016 It seems my mission start times are all over one hour ahead of current time in mission editor and\or briefing. I am however not able to change any times or dates. Thanks, I think you put me on the right track, all I need to figure out is how to change the mission times.
kaizersoldier Posted April 23, 2016 Author Posted April 23, 2016 Well, I tried a repair and changing times, still no joy. I cannot fly any mission, be it the FC3, A10 or any other module I purchased in Nevada. Instant action does not work either. When trying to edit the f15c cold start for instance, I just get an error stating dcs cannot open or save the .miz file.Any other ideas?

kaizersoldier Posted April 23, 2016 Author Posted April 23, 2016 Hi, I have eset endpoint security and Malware Bytes anti malware. I have no mods , just the aircraft I purchased, ie vanilla install. Yes, I run as admin. Will see if the security settings are correct on the folders.
ED Team BIGNEWY Posted April 23, 2016 ED Team Posted April 23, 2016 try adding dcs to your security's exception list, and then try a repair. let me know how you get on Forum rules - DCS Crashing? kaizersoldier Posted April 23, 2016 Author Posted April 23, 2016 After doing almost everything I could think of, I decided to re-install as I was getting nowhere. The download is at 40% and once I am done re-installing I will give feedback.
ED Team BIGNEWY Posted April 23, 2016 ED Team Posted April 23, 2016 Ok make sure you clear out your saved games dcs folder as well, then we will have a clean slate to start with. kaizersoldier Posted April 23, 2016 Author Posted April 23, 2016 Finally done. Re-installed dcs world 2, re-installed via module manager all my aircraft and viola. I think I should have tried removing and re-installing just the aircraft via the module manager and that would have sorted my problems. Oh well, all is working now. Cheers for the help.
