The Firing Squad website is using Lock On to benchmark the newest ATI graphics card. (The reviews also used the new Conroe X6800 CPU.)

The most interesting part of the review for me was the chart of Min/Max FPS.

For a long time I've felt it was just as important (if not MORE important) to watch the MIN FPS values rather than Average or Max FPS.

Maybe my next card will be a nVidia.

it's a tossup really, but..

it's generally known that NVIDIA has always been better for flight sims. Not sure exactly why.

but then an article pops up saying the opposite.

either way, @ this level, dont worry about it, your CPU is more of an issue than GPU :D

Seems nvidia cards show more visual glitches with Lockon than the ATI range, that shadow bug with the Kuznetsov is one, reason why i don't use nvidia, image quality seems better with my X800 too overall especially with AA and AF cranked up :)

Oh, i've also noticed the review from those guys were done on an nvidia/ATi/Intel setup, me thinks something is fishy, considering that AMD/ATi are now same company........just strange how the ATI shows poor performance on an Intel setup ;)

Because core 2 is the fastest in the market right now, at least I'm pretty damn sure that it is. And ATI/AMD merge was done after 1k series were developed, so the merge should have nothing to do with performance of current hardware.
