SharpeXB Posted May 7, 2016 Posted May 7, 2016 I'm recommending this game to someone right now and they asked if they should do Steam or just go straight from DCS I'm not sure what the advantages or differences are. What are they? i9-14900KS | ASUS ROG MAXIMUS Z790 HERO | 64GB DDR5 5600MHz | iCUE H150i Liquid CPU Cooler | ASUS TUF GeForce RTX 4090 OC | Windows 11 Home | 2TB Samsung 980 PRO NVMe | Corsair RM1000x | LG 48GQ900-B 4K OLED Monitor | CH Fighterstick | Ch Pro Throttle | CH Pro Pedals | TrackIR 5
Sryan Posted May 7, 2016 Posted May 7, 2016 steam is having your stuff on steam. DCS standalone is getting earlier acces to new modules ( For beta testing reasons) and the ability to earn/spend bonus money on things you buy at full price. You can go from steam to standalone, but not from standalone to steam. Check my F-15C guide
SharpeXB Posted May 7, 2016 Author Posted May 7, 2016 The prices right now from ED look better too. Although I'm sure Steam has sales too. I originally bought the A-10 on sale from Steam but since then transferred over to ED i9-14900KS | ASUS ROG MAXIMUS Z790 HERO | 64GB DDR5 5600MHz | iCUE H150i Liquid CPU Cooler | ASUS TUF GeForce RTX 4090 OC | Windows 11 Home | 2TB Samsung 980 PRO NVMe | Corsair RM1000x | LG 48GQ900-B 4K OLED Monitor | CH Fighterstick | Ch Pro Throttle | CH Pro Pedals | TrackIR 5
fixen Posted May 7, 2016 Posted May 7, 2016 Go standalone. You also have automatic updates and get new releases way earlier. The only reason to go for steam might be the overlay and friend function.
