TWC_SLAG Posted May 12, 2016 Posted May 12, 2016 The only way I (and, I'm sure, others) can get trim to work is to turn off FFB. Why is that, and is a solution being developed? I use the Sidewlnder2. Weta43 Posted May 12, 2016 Posted May 12, 2016 I use an MSFFB sidewinder 2 too, and the trim (in all axis) works correctly. Can you say how you have the options in the tuning for feedback on your axis set ? I'm just about to start work, but I'll look back after I get home Cheers.

TWC_SLAG Posted May 13, 2016 Author Posted May 13, 2016 Here are the settings I think you asked for. Weta43 Posted May 15, 2016 Posted May 15, 2016 On the force feedback tune panel, check the 'swap axis' option & try that. Cheers.
TWC_SLAG Posted May 16, 2016 Author Posted May 16, 2016 On the force feedback tune panel, check the 'swap axis' option & try that. Unfortunately, it didn't help. Do you see anything wrong or strange with the other settings I have? I would like to see what settings some other people are using, that don't have this problem. Weta43 Posted May 18, 2016 Posted May 18, 2016 On the misc page (your last screenshot), second column, second option, there's a 'Force Feedback' on/off option. Maybe try turning that on ? Cheers.

That's the problem. When it is off, I have elevator trim. Turn it on, and trim doesn't work. Weta43 Posted May 18, 2016 Posted May 18, 2016 (edited) So what kind of trim do you get when you have it turned off, and what do you get when you have it on. What does your stick do when you trim roll ? Pitch ? I've got swap axis unchecked & both invert axis checked. Edited May 18, 2016 by Weta43 Cheers.

What does your stick do when you trim roll ? Pitch ? I've got swap axis unchecked & both invert axis checked. I use the hat switch, elevator trim up and trim down. Same hat switch for roll, but left and right. When FFB is off, trim works, trim button in cockpit moves, as does the stick. I'll try the invert axis idea. But, why on earth would DCS want you to do that without warning people? Totally counter intuitive. Maybe it's just a Sidewinder2 thing. Talisman_VR Posted May 18, 2016 Posted May 18, 2016 Sorry you are having trouble. I use a Saitek Cyborg evo FF stick and have never had any troubles with trim. I do not have the F86 though, so can't comment on that model. I do not synchronise cockpit controls with HOTAS, but I see you do. I hardly use any curves or dead zones, just a small amount on rudder (12). I use keyboard up down and left right arrow keys for elevator and rudder trim. Trim works very well for me for both combat and racing in the P51D and the animations in the cockpit work ok too. Happy landings, Talisman
Boris Posted May 18, 2016 Posted May 18, 2016 Historically, you've always had to invert the FFB with the Sidewinder to have it work properly. Not sure that this is still the case now. I have the Dora FFB working with default settings. A major problem since the move to the new engine is that force feedback settings aren't saved properly. Playing around with the settings while in mission will have you all over the place and will get you nowhere. Even if you have the behaviour where you want it, it'll be screwed up the next mission. You need to restart DCS after changing a setting. Best to change the setting in the main menu and then do a restart of DCS and see how you go. TWC_SLAG Posted May 23, 2016 Author Posted May 23, 2016 Nothing seems to work for the F-86. I still have to turn off FFB. The Mustang, Dora, and 109K do work, though, with FFB on. One thing about the 109 is, elevator trim is either full down for level flight, and then adjustable up from there. Crazy stuff.
