Dirty Rotten Flieger Posted June 3, 2016 Posted June 3, 2016 I was watching the trailer and at about the forty second mark there can be seen two small doors open in front of the gun barrels. What are they ? The only thing I can think of, is that they help direct the gun smoke away from the engine air intakes. Anyone know what they are for?
TorsteinE Posted June 3, 2016 Posted June 3, 2016 Says on the store page for the F-5 "The F-5Е is armed with two 20-mm М39-А3 cannons with 280 rounds per each cannon. The cannons are located in the nose section, forward of the cockpit. Special deflectors are used to avoid compressor stall conditions caused by hot gas ingestion as a bi-product of operating the M-39-A3. Each cannon is capable of firing at a rate of 1500 to 1700 rounds per minute." i7 6700K @ 4.6, GTX1070, 32GB DDR4 @ 3200 TM Warthog on Monstertech, TrackIR5, Lenovo Explorer, MFG Crosswind.
Dirty Rotten Flieger Posted June 4, 2016 Author Posted June 4, 2016 Thanks I missed that. I like the details. Now I'm wondering if they open automatically or if the pilot could forget to open them and risk a compressor stall right when he is trying to line up a shot .
Kludo Posted June 4, 2016 Posted June 4, 2016 (edited) The doors open on the first indent of the gun trigger which also turns on the hud camera. Second indent fires the gun. Edited June 4, 2016 by Kludo added words to make it spelled good ΜΟΛΩΝ ΛΑΒΕ
