slaintemaith Posted June 11, 2016 Posted June 11, 2016 I'm greasing in on the 'Landing' mission in 2.0. -100fpm or so. Invariably I list to the left upon touching the runway and it breaks the left landing gear. (I know this because upon touch and go, it doesn't go up. WTH?
MegOhm_SD Posted June 11, 2016 Posted June 11, 2016 Don't list and use less grease Cooler Master HAF XB EVO , ASUS P8Z77-V, i7-3770K @ 4.6GHz, Noctua AC, 32GB Corsair Vengeance Pro, EVGA 1080TI 11GB, 2 Samsung 840 Pro 540GB SSDs Raid 0, 1TB HDD, EVGA SuperNOVA 1300W PS, G930 Wireless SS Headset, TrackIR5/Wireless Proclip, TM Warthog, Saitek Pro Combat Pedals, 75" Samsung 4K QLED, HP Reverb G2, Win 10
GGTharos Posted June 11, 2016 Posted June 11, 2016 (edited) What's the gross weight when landing? Edited June 11, 2016 by GGTharos [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Reminder: SAM = Speed Bump :D I used to play flight sims like you, but then I took a slammer to the knee - Yoda
slaintemaith Posted June 11, 2016 Author Posted June 11, 2016 Grid weight is unknown. It's the default landing mission 2.0 quick flight There may be crosswind. I'm touching down centerline, though.
gnouze Posted June 13, 2016 Posted June 13, 2016 It's that your vertical speed is too high. It should be near zero, as if you were rejecting the ground but without climbing. Of course, landing distance increases but it doens't lead to a main gear collapse. I experienced the same difficulties at the begining (and I fly in RL ; 450 hours) but now, i succeed about 3 out of 4 landings. I too believe that the model is too fragile and also too unstable (yaw axis, on the ground, particularly while braking). But we'll have to do with it..
Ktulu2 Posted June 13, 2016 Posted June 13, 2016 Hmm...What kind of lodout do you guys have? I can't remember having any trouble with the F-15, Although most of the time I land I'm near being winchester and with at most 3000LBS. Are you guys landing with three full bags? Or are you guys touching down at 250 KTS? I do DCS videos on youtube : https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCAs8VxtXRJHZLnKS4mKunnQ?view_as=public
GGTharos Posted June 13, 2016 Posted June 13, 2016 The design limit for the LG is 600fpm@36000lbs. The heaviest configuration we can achieve right now is about 55000lbs, which would have a limit of 390fpm if I got my math right. Ktulu2 Posted June 13, 2016 Posted June 13, 2016 Are you sure about 600 fpm? Assuming this means 600 feet per min thats 6 Knots... Is that in FPS or Vertical speed? I do DCS videos on youtube : https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCAs8VxtXRJHZLnKS4mKunnQ?view_as=public
GGTharos Posted June 13, 2016 Posted June 13, 2016 Correct, the gear is rated for that descent rate. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Reminder: SAM = Speed Bump :D I used to play flight sims like you, but then I took a slammer to the knee - Yoda
Winston 60 Posted June 14, 2016 Posted June 14, 2016 What's the gross weight when landing? Yes, a high weight when landing is usually the culprit. The DCS F-15C has a nicely working "Fuel Dump" so use it to shed some weight before touching down.
