BaD CrC Posted June 12, 2016 Posted June 12, 2016 As far as you guys know, do night have any influence on the detection capability of the enemy in DCS? I mean, will they engage you at the same distance whether it's day or night? Thanks. https://www.blacksharkden.com http://discord.gg/blacksharkden
Grimes Posted June 13, 2016 Posted June 13, 2016 Nighttime will effect the visual capability of AI to acquire targets. The distance to engage is all down to the weapons and sensors available to that aircraft. So the simple answer is that it depends. If the unit has a FLIR sensor or radar then it will probably be able to engage with most weapons just fine. I don't know how the FLIR would effect attack or detection distances though. The right man in the wrong place makes all the difference in the world. BaD CrC Posted June 13, 2016 Author Posted June 13, 2016 Thanks Grimes. I am working on a new mission and I was worried if even a simple soldier was able to shoot at my choppers in pitch dark night. https://www.blacksharkden.com http://discord.gg/blacksharkden
BaD CrC Posted June 14, 2016 Author Posted June 14, 2016 Wow. Just test flew the mission last night. So night does have a huge effect indeed. It's not just that they detect your aircraft at shorter distance, they don't detect at all! I was hovering a few meters above an enclosed Zu23 with a Gazelle, and the guys really did nothing. https://www.blacksharkden.com http://discord.gg/blacksharkden
C6_Hellfrog Posted June 19, 2016 Posted June 19, 2016 same question for fog and clouds ? because we can change fog density. for night / day have to work on time of mission start...
