Upgrading Video Card Question

Hello Everybody!

 

Currently I'm runing my LO on Radeon 9600xt and I'm planing on upgading it to ATI Radeon X850 XT Platinum Edition.

 

Would I notice a difference.

that would be my choice too. There are more modern cards compatible with AGP but they are much more expensive and wont be taken advantage off fully by your system anyway.

Echo, yes, you'll notice a difference. If nothing else, better image quality. (resolution, AA, AF)

Yes, you will-but it won't be the magic wand. Lomac will still suffer from generally inadequate CPU horsepower. If you leave all your graphics settings the same- you will see some gains within the limititions of the rest of your system. I found that I gained a lot when I left them as they were, but that I could now pile on the candy and not lose so much that it became unplayable. Don't neglect your power supply during this upgrade.

Yep the card will help some, for sure. The 2.4 is your primary bottleneck.

I went from a 9600pro AIW to my X800pro and got a 10-13 FPS increase, and that was just changing the v/c...nothing else. But what does the rest of your system look like? And I was able to turn more settings up.
