Any chance you can make that an idiot's guide ;-)

What difference does choosing S (guess min/max) or Z (centre ?) do ?

It allows you to "see" the radar search cone.

"Programming today is a race between software engineers striving to build bigger and better idiot-proof programs, and the Universe trying to produce bigger and better idiots. So far, the Universe is winning."

"The three most dangerous things in the world are a programmer with a soldering iron, a hardware type with a program patch and a user with an idea."

Absolutely no difference for the radar itself.

Just a different indication for the pilot.

S = I scan "alone", it's nice to know what part of the sky I'm scanning.

Z = I'm trying to find a target that a GCI BRAA'ed me, so I know its distance and altitude, let's set my radar correctly with those parameters to maximize my chances of finding it quick.
