He doesn't have an account here on this forum so i just put up this link for further discussion.
Shaman Posted September 9, 2006 Posted September 9, 2006 Isn't moddeling of airflow over airplane's parts already part of Advanced Flight Model? 51PVO Founding member (DEC2007-) 100KIAP Founding member (DEC2018-) :: Shaman aka [100☭] Shamansky tail# 44 or 444 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] 100KIAP Regiment Early Warning & Control officer
Pilotasso Posted September 9, 2006 Posted September 9, 2006 that has been arround for years. One of my colleuages developed a primitive SIM where you can build airframes and see how they perform. However after some time with it you realize it still doesnt mean the aircraft bahave like that in real life because what determines flight perfomance is not the shapes of the aircraft alone but weight and the CG coordinates inside the airframe, as well as engine perfomance etc etc, some of wich are still classified data. .
ARM505 Posted September 9, 2006 Posted September 9, 2006 I cannot see how combining CFD and structural analysis has any bearing on desktop PC sims just yet. Both (but especially CFD) can be exceptionally demanding on processing power. By that I mean that some CFD computations would take a desktop PC days to work through. Not so good for the FPS! (it would have to be Frames Per Day or something like that!) Or have I missed the point?
