Fred00 Posted July 1, 2016 Posted July 1, 2016 I've just started to get into this bird and I have a couple of questions regarding the start-up procedure. 1) Ignition/ventilation switch: What does this do and what does the different positions do (Vent/left/right). 2) Fuel shut-off valve switch: Manual says to set it in either closed (left) or open (right) position. But what does it do and when is the position of this switch important?
Zeus67 Posted July 1, 2016 Posted July 1, 2016 I've just started to get into this bird and I have a couple of questions regarding the start-up procedure. 1) Ignition/ventilation switch: What does this do and what does the different positions do (Vent/left/right). This switch controls which jet starter igniter is going to be used. VENT = Simulate engine start, for maintenance only. G = Use left igniter. D = Use right igniter. By default it starts with the G position. 2) Fuel shut-off valve switch: Manual says to set it in either closed (left) or open (right) position. But what does it do and when is the position of this switch important? As it name implies it cuts fuel supply to the engine. When the cover is up and the switch is to the left, the engine does not receive fuel. When the switch is to the right or the cover is down, which means that the switch is to the right, the engine is receiving fuel. That is the best simple explanation I can give. :smartass: "Programming today is a race between software engineers striving to build bigger and better idiot-proof programs, and the Universe trying to produce bigger and better idiots. So far, the Universe is winning." "The three most dangerous things in the world are a programmer with a soldering iron, a hardware type with a program patch and a user with an idea."
Frederf Posted July 1, 2016 Posted July 1, 2016 I always thought it was weird and perhaps physically impossible that the fuel cutoff switch guard was able to fit its window over the tip of the switch in both switch positions.
Zeus67 Posted July 1, 2016 Posted July 1, 2016 I always thought it was weird and perhaps physically impossible that the fuel cutoff switch guard was able to fit its window over the tip of the switch in both switch positions. It does and our modeler did a good job. Unfortunately the switch location made it very hard to code the switch/cover movements. Fred00 Posted July 1, 2016 Author Posted July 1, 2016 Ah, then it all makes sense. Thanks for the quick reply! :)
