This is an age old issue and has already been reported many times, but it is still unresolved so far. Aircraft lights are not visible far enough in day and night. Of highest concern I think is the visibility on landing lights (the light source, not the illuminated area). It is standard practice for aircraft to turn them on around airfields even during the day for the purpose of making themselves easily visible.

As reference I submit two examples that almost everyone has already seen first hand:

1. Even during day, landing lights of airliners approaching an airport can be seen as soon as they establish on the ILS, which is usually around 10 NM out.

2. During the night, strobe lights of airliners cruising at 30'000 ft can easily be seen from the ground.

Yes, this needs improvement along with the current dim runway lighting. You can't see the airports until you are nearly over them.
