cichlidfan Posted July 23, 2016 Posted July 23, 2016 (edited) All that article is saying is that the average gamer doesn't spend the money in high end hardware. So what? That has always been true. In fact, that is pretty much the definition of average. Not exactly a revelation. I don't have any of that stuff in my gaming rigs. SharpeXB Posted July 23, 2016 Posted July 23, 2016 (edited) It's certainly possible to spend way more than is necessary on a PC if you just want decent gaming performance. What's also true is that it's possible to spend thousands on a typical PC like Dell or HP and get really sub-par gaming results. If gaming is your thing, then a special rig is the answer. And it doesn't really have to cost a fortune. The PCs here are both the same price (disgrgarding those dual GPUs). One is a Dell and the other is a boutique gaming rig. Which would you rather spend your $$ on? Goldsmack Posted July 24, 2016 Author Posted July 24, 2016 (edited) For sure. That's one of the many benefits of PC you can tailor your budget. And very true about prices, especially if your patient. My jaw hit the floor when I saw what retailers in Canada where charging for GTX 1080s or even GTX 1070s $1000.00!!! ARE YOU #$%@ KIDDING ME!. Hopefuly cards like the 480 and Nvidias GTX 1060 are better because those are the cards budget gamers like myself will be looking at. I am perfectly happy spending less on year old parts for a decent price. But if you got the $ the sky's the limit! Cedaway Posted July 25, 2016 Posted July 25, 2016 An article made of Steam stats... OK, that's deep investigation journalism! Anyway, the shares of CPU's and GPU's follow the 'Gauss curve' rule: 75% to 80% of the users will choose the mid-range models. The high end will be chosen by the 10% with the highest revenues. Nothing but normal. And I rejoing the comment of Goldsmack when saying that one of the many benefits of PC you can tailor your budget.. DCS Wish: Turbulences affecting surrounding aircraft...
