kervin2k7 Posted July 23, 2016 Posted July 23, 2016 I'm new to DCS world and I must say I'm having a blast. However I cannot seem to find any information about target selection using the L-081 targeting pod. If multiple SAM vehicles are in the same location how do you select a specific target? Many times the little diamond indicators overlap so how do you pick which one to target? I also read that some AAA vehicles can shoot down incoming missiles? Which vehicles do this and what is the best way to attack them?
Winston 60 Posted July 24, 2016 Posted July 24, 2016 If you get overlapping SAM indicator diamonds, try to approach from another angle, or turn away somewhat. This may separate the targets if they are overlapping. I have a lot of trouble with the SA-15 Tor SAM vehicle. It shoots at and hits my anti-radiation missiles with great accuracy. Try to shoot two missiles at it, or one at a nearby SAM followed by another shortly thereafter at the Tor. It can't hit two incoming missiles that are fired so close together. Krustysan Posted July 24, 2016 Posted July 24, 2016 (edited) SU-25T SEAD I haven't been able to make the ELINT pod select multiple targets, so no ripple fire on multiple targets. Manually select each successive target. Would be nice to cycle through. Concur with Winston 60 regarding SA-15 intercepting inbound ARMs. I found that using 2 missiles with about a 5-10 second delay gets the job done - or you can team attack, and use your buddy as a decoy. This can work well on templated deployments, especially when the search radars aren't radiating continuously. Hope this helps, but SA-15 is a tough nut to crack. Edited July 24, 2016 by Krustysan mistake, question was about ELINT pod.

What is your usual AGL in the moment of release? 1. Be as low as possible (pay attention not to kill your self by firing too low where missile hits ground and kills you) 2. Don't shoot at max range, get closer. As closer you are, the angle at which TOR missiles have to intercept your missile is steeper. (they go up, then must go down). The steeper angle, the harder to accurately intercept because of bad aspect to movement vector of the target. Steeper angle gives more chance for them to miss. Edited July 25, 2016 by Pitot Don't ask, here's the answer: 95% of my posts are edited because I have OCD.

One missile will never hit, but two will always get it! I prefer to launch one missile at a nearby SAM and then another after a few seconds at the Tor. He gets busy with the first one and the second one gets him every time! :smilewink: CPU: i7 980x @ 4.2GHz RAM: 24gb Corsair Vengeance MB: Gigabyte Sniper X58 w/onboard Soundblaster X-Fi HD: SanDisk 480gb SSD OS: Win7 Pro 64bit VIDEO CARD: EVGA GTX 980ti FTW MONITOR: LG 34" Ultrawide 2560x1080 MP SERVER: ibuypower i7-4810MQ w/Win7 Home 64bit GEAR: Saitek X-52 Pro; Combat Rudder Pedals; Throttle Quadrants.
