Shack Posted July 31, 2016 Posted July 31, 2016 Can someone please post how to setup VR with Oculus Rift for a newbie? And then post it as a sticky? I've been pouring through tons of information but its fragmented at best. Not sure what the debug tool is how its used, mouse control issues, etc... Thank you in advance. hansangb Posted July 31, 2016 Posted July 31, 2016 There's really nothing to setup. You install the Oculus home page (it installs by default). You don't have to worry about debug tool. In DCS, there is a VR setup tab that allows you to change the pixel density. To make the HUD more readable. Most folks go with 1.5 and experiment up or down from there. You're trading performance for readability. In the setup of DCS screen, you can choose to use the Mouse to move your in game cursor around. Or you can use your "head" by centering the dot over the control you want to click on. And in the setup, Controls, UI Layer, you can assign left and right mouse button to a joystick button. That's about it. Enjoy DCS with VR. hsb HW Spec in Spoiler --- i7-10700K Direct-To-Die/OC'ed to 5.1GHz, MSI Z490 MB, 32GB DDR4 3200MHz, EVGA 2080 Ti FTW3, NVMe+SSD, Win 10 x64 Pro, MFG, Warthog, TM MFDs, Komodo Huey set, Rverbe G1
Shack Posted July 31, 2016 Author Posted July 31, 2016 Thanks for that ! I thought I may have been missing more but a concise statement like that is extremely helpful. hansangb Posted July 31, 2016 Posted July 31, 2016 Oh, and I'm sure you've seen it. There is a VR preset that you can use to set the various settings. And dial in the performance from there. Enjoy! hsb HW Spec in Spoiler --- i7-10700K Direct-To-Die/OC'ed to 5.1GHz, MSI Z490 MB, 32GB DDR4 3200MHz, EVGA 2080 Ti FTW3, NVMe+SSD, Win 10 x64 Pro, MFG, Warthog, TM MFDs, Komodo Huey set, Rverbe G1
Shack Posted August 1, 2016 Author Posted August 1, 2016 (edited) Thanks. Looks fantastic HUD is very readable at 1.5. My forward instruments and right console ( when looking closer ) are very readable, however my left console looks a bit blurry. Even when looking up closer. Im wondering if its the placement of my VR IR equipment on my desk? Ratcatcher Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 Im wondering if its the placement of my VR IR equipment on my desk? It shouldn't be that. Are you looking directly at the panel or glancing at it? As I have found that the lenses certainly have a "sweet spot" which means I have to look pretty much straight ahead to get a clear view through them. If I look through the lower part of the lens it becomes distorted. There is also probably a chance that some panels look better than others. I have noticed some aircraft panels are clearer than others and even some parts of the same panel are clearer than other parts ( dials etc ).
