Hello,

So once I saw the recently released F-5 I finally decided to give DCS a go. But my FPS are unplayable. On the P-51 “hot takeoff” I get around 30 when looking to the ocean and about 10 when looking to the city. All the settings are either low or off. The resolution is 1360x768 because that’s the resolution of my screen. I have:

Intel Core 15-3350P @3.1

8GB Ram

Windows 10, 64Bit

GEForce 620

Is there something wrong with my setup? I was expecting to be able to run well at the lowest settings. Any suggestions on what to do? If I was to update the PC what should I do first, new video card? more RAM? something else?

Thanks in advance for any help!

Won't blame you and your system but.....first you definitivly need a better GPU. And 8GB ram more could be better also.

Max out your RAM and pick up a GTX-1070. That should hold you for a few more years.

Do you think his actual CPU will feed a 1070?

If not it should be less expensive to go on a 1060 or 960/970, isn't it?

The i5 looks like a laptop edition to me, thus my question :

Can you exchange parts at all, aka PC..or am I right with the laptop ?

If yes, then you have very limited choices and chances !

Your CPU i5 3350p should handle DX11 DCS world 1.5,the problem is your GPU,you just need to buy better one...Main think is stick with Nvidia GPU(they are better overall in flight sims)if you are on low budget you should check cards like GTX950 or GTX960...or used GTX760,GTX770(on Ebay etc.)Those cards will run DCS very well, but definitely dont buy anything cheaper(like GTX750ti etc)

Thanks for all the suggestions. I dint know my video card was that bad, it was ok for FSX and BMS...

So after a new video card (and a new power supply) and more ram, the FPS went from around 10 to 120 (for the same settings).

I must say I am impressed with DCS, the flight model is great. I have only tried the TP-51 but I think it is great.
