I just purchased the Gazelle today. Im having a good time and have already read through the manual. I am not understanding the autopilot though. I can get it to auto hover and auto col but I cant get the altitude and speed parts to work. If they are working its not saying anything on my control diagram like it does for hover coll and slaved.

How do I know my AP is on and off? It acting like its not so Im guessing I might be out of parameters. I have all the related systems on and engage the ap using the stick button mapped to my stick.

You have to be going around the correct speed in level flight or it overwhelms the AP. You should be doing about 150kph prior to engaging the ALT hold mode. As for SPEED mode, not sure, never needed it.

Will I get an indication that it is on?

No. No any indication on cockpit, but if you enable Controls Indicator (RCtrl+Enter), you can see the "Altitude" or "Speed" indicates on it.

Anyone know the parameters for the ALT to work? I can get the chopper into level flgiht and trimmed perfect but when I engage ALT it wont engage

afaik you have to be level, above 120kph, very little i think 6 degrees max positive or negative climb rate, under 30 degrees bank, engage Alt hold, the climb rate needle should settle on 0,

you can make small banking maneuvers and rudder inputs to correct headings, climb rate may drop slightly but should re-settle on 0 after the maneuver, *once is not too excessive and your speed hasn't fallen below 120kph,

While active collective acts like a throttle, increasing speed or lowering speed,

if you drop below 120kph the P.A. light shows on the warning light panel and autopilot disengages

I think speed hold can be engaged around 40kph maybe slower, again in level flight,

once switched on you loose ability to pitch up or down and collective is slow to respond to increase and decrease in altitude, so have a key bind / hotas bind very handy in case of sudden terrain squeaky bum times,

Ok, I figured it all out. Here is how to do it

AP master on

Pitch, Roll, Yaw on

Alt/Speed to Alt

Fly strait and level and then right click on ALT switch even after its already up. Need to make sure Pitch/roll/correction monitors are all centered. This is how you know A/P is on.

What I was doing.

AP master on

pitch, roll, yaw on

I would fly strait and level and then hit the AP switch on the yoke thinking i was turning the a/p on. What that did was just turn it off since it was already on. Seems the yoke ap and ap on/off switches do the same thing. This is also why my auto hover was not working sometimes
