Apexmaster32 Posted August 16, 2016 Posted August 16, 2016 Hello i just Downloaded this awesome sim. I have a Saitek X45 controls. I am having issues with mapping some of the keys. It shows that throttle Z is for my throttle up/down, but when I enter training mission 1. nothing happens. what am I doing wrong? here is few images of button setup.
Brewnix Posted August 16, 2016 Posted August 16, 2016 Hi, Ok so it shows slider 1 as thrust assignment in one pic "General axis tab "and and the other pic is of keybinds for SU25t. You can't assign a axis to key binds. Try going to the axis section in the pull down list of SU25T aircraft you are flying. You have to bind all keys and axis for every aircraft. Just got make sure your on that particular aircraft axis and keybind page. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
FeistyLemur Posted August 16, 2016 Posted August 16, 2016 (edited) You also have each axis bound to every single device on your system. When working on controls the best thing to do is go into the module you want to work on, do a cold start mission or something where you can just sit and try stuff out, then edit the controls for that plane and play around. What I do when I start binding any new modules controls is go to the axis settings, unbind every single axis for all controllers. Like in your case, you have a steering wheel bound to it too for example. Then I rebind only the Axis I wish to bind on the controllers I wish to bind. Start from scratch essentially on Axis bindings. If you have TrackIR or a mouse, don't unbind those. DCS will auto assign stuff to all kinds of controllers that it finds connected. Out of the box it will be a conflicting gigantic mess with axis bindings on everything. You're going to run into the same thing on buttons. There will be tons of button assignments that were auto assigned to your wheel, pedals, etc. One really powerful tool is the clear category button. If you click that, it wipes out every binding for a device. So for example, I'm going to guess you aren't using your steering wheel in DCS. You could safely click any binding on it and hit clear category and wipe all those out. Same thing works with Axis bindings. The single greatest thing about DCS keybinding setup to me is that you can press a key or button and it instantly goes to it. So you can rapidly clear and rebind things at will. Once you get the hang of it, it's the best key binding system ever made in my opinion. Edited August 16, 2016 by FeistyLemur
Apexmaster32 Posted August 17, 2016 Author Posted August 17, 2016 cool thank you, I got it, fixed it now. another issue I am having is my view. I am running 3 24 inch monitors. at 3480x1080 res. in cockpit view, it is really hard to see the HUD. I can see it the cockpit res is 1024 but I am sitting to far away in cockpit view. Can I move forward om cockpit to see the HUD numbers such as airspeed heading etc.

Brewnix Posted August 17, 2016 Posted August 17, 2016 (edited) I bind 2 joystick keys to "zoom in slow" and "zoom out slow" in the view tab of the aircraft your flying that will allow you to move in and out. Kind of like I am using binoculars! Or repositioning the pilots head a little closer to dash. Edited August 17, 2016 by Brewnix [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
