Yeah, there is a small altitude increase when performing a cobra. the Flanker has that as well.

Keys to performing a Cobra:

1. Control authority to rapidly exceed 90 degrees of AoA.

2. Stability to rapidly recover to level flight upon reaching above AoA.

3. Engines that continue to run and develop decent thrust during the above AoA excursions.
