All,

I kindly invite you for the #2 workshop on MOOSE, which will be held at the end of september, beginning of october.

If you would like to participate in this workshop, please register yourself here: http://doodle.com/poll/fnqfhuvxg98rx34d

This workshop will conduct with the participants an interactive explanation and discussion on:

0. A basic training on lua ... (see below post #4). I may plan a separate workshop for this ...

1. An introduction to MOOSE (for the newbies).

2. The latest changes that have been implemented in the MOOSE framework since the last MOOSE workshop.

3. A review on the open issues on GITHUB.

4. A planning discussion (priorities and wishlists).

IMPORTANT: Please send me a notification CONTAINING YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS to svenvandevelde@gmail.com or as a private message on the ED forums to "flightcontrol".

The workshop will be held using Teamviewer 11, which is a tool to share screens and discuss using audio channels. Details how to join will be shared later.

thanks,

Sven

The 9pm time given in the doodle - which timezone?

I suspect CET, given that you are in Belgium?

EDIT: disregard my post. Just found the timezone setting in the doodle... well hidden in the lower right of the description :D

Yes. Sorry. Forgot to mention that. Time zone is CET. This time is convenient for most people participating from CET and americas time zones... If people from Asia want to join also, that is possible but then I'll need to conduct two workshops

Upon request of our team @ slack.com, many have requested a "lua" training. So, maybe I'll put on the top point on the agenda a 'lua" training for DCS world, usiing MOOSE.

With lua training I mean, provide an overview of the lua basics that explain:

- variables (local and global)

- tables

- operators

- conditions

- loops

- functions and return

- functions in tables

- the : notation... Object Oriented lua

- how to extend an object with functions (needed for the new AI pattern classes)

- "tricks" in lua

using MOOSE:

- import moose.lua in your missions

- overview of the MOOSE classes

- debug/follow your logic using moose debug statements

- example missions

The framework is becoming "huge" and "powerful".

So covering all will be nearly impossible within one workshop. But the workshop will focus on getting you on the way.

maybe i will plan 2 workshops, one for lua and the other for MOOSE workshop #2...

Sven
