aimmaverick Posted September 27, 2006 Posted September 27, 2006 I have just tested a whole pakage of SAMs, ground and naval based. I tested using F-15 RWR and comparing the data to that found in manual. The results were: Slight differences in symbology compared to what manual claims, no big deal. Regarding Strela-10, manual states that "13" symbol should show on your rwr but the system is totaly silent. Is this a bug or a typo in manual? When testing naval radars, there are big differences. US carrier and Oliver Perry show on screen as 48 and 49 symbols respectevly as opposed to SS and SM that manual claims. Is this correct, since the manual refers to version 1.1 and hasnt been updated when patched? Is this realistic? Also ships are somewhat lazy at attacking planes. Sometimes they dont even fire on you. (Oliver Perry) Now a question for devs. Do you plan to fix Strela-10 as you did Vulcan and Gepard radars so it would signal warning? Right now it is very lethal thanks to beeing totaly passive. And plz improve Shilka turret turning speed to match rl performance.
GGTharos Posted September 27, 2006 Posted September 27, 2006 Strela uses the radar for ranging only - in other words, it doesn't need to be fixed at all, radar use is -optional-. As for the ships, they're being looked at ... where the symbology is concerned you're probably right, but keep in mind that ships have multiple radars. Jay Posted September 27, 2006 Posted September 27, 2006 IMO that "13" symbol in the manual must be a typo because Strela-10 has only a ranging radar that doesn't show up on RWR. Target engagement is done using EO/IR system here. --- Well, looks like GG was faster ;-) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] AMD Athlon 64 3000+ (Venice, OC to 2,66 GHz), MSI K8N Neo Platinum (nForce 3 250 Gb), 1,5 GB Corsair PC-3200 RAM, GeForce 7800GS 256 MB VGA (G71, OC to 535/1550 MHz, ForceWare 84.21), 2 x 300 GB Maxtor DiamondMax 10 SATA HDD (RAID 0), SB Audigy 2 ZS, 480W Thermaltake PurePower TWV PSU, Win XP SP2, MS SideWinder Precision 2, Belkin Nostromo n52 SpeedPad, HP L1902
aimmaverick Posted September 27, 2006 Author Posted September 27, 2006 GG, does that mean SM and SS symbols were indeed correct before?
GGTharos Posted September 27, 2006 Posted September 27, 2006 They might be to some degree - a ship has many radars, search, search & track, and illuminators ... it doesn't seem to be showing all of them on RWR though so I don't know what to say here. Correct them to whatever appears on your RWR in play, obviously. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Reminder: SAM = Speed Bump :D I used to play flight sims like you, but then I took a slammer to the knee - Yoda
