I've purchased the Saitek X52 Pro a few days ago and I set the thumb slider axis on the throttle as the zoom axis in the cockpit. However, the view is always shaking around and I constantly have to adjust the input on the slider axis to get the view stable. Is there a way to solve this (maybe by programming the axis) ??

Same issue here on a X-52 non pro. I gave up and now use the 4 way hat on the throttle for zoom in and out. Works better for my hands anyway.

Yeah, I guess all sliders / rotaries on the X52 are not THAT precise. I had the MiG-21 wingspan knob assigned to the big rotary on the throttle and the knob was shivering like a leaf all the time.

For the thumb slider I created three zones and assigned the speedbrake (in/out) to them, as it's in almost the same place in the real plane. I use the keyboard for zooming.

Thanks for the advice, has any of you encountered a similar issue with the throttle axis itself? My ingame throttle also shakes a little bit sometimes even if I don't touch my HOTAS throttle. It seems to be a problem with DCS because it doesnt shake in my saitek control system.

My suggestion is to do a Saitek j-stick and throttle re-calibration:

To recalibrate, first unplug the yoke.

recalibrate joy stick

Go to start/run and type regedit.

The registry editor will have a list of folders on the left hand side. Go down into the following folders in order.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE (CURRENT_USER if on VISTA or later)

System

CurrentControlSet

Control

Media Properties

Private Properties

Direct Input

Inside the Direct Input folder, delete any folder that begins VID_06A3.

Once done, close the editor. Plug the yoke back in and move all the axes (including throttle) through their full range of movement 4 times.

Now go to control panel/game controllers/properties to see if everything is ok on the test screen.

If the problem persists then test the device on another PC. If the problem still occurs then it is most likely a hardware fault.

Thanks I tried that but it didn't help. The joystick has some resistance at around 25% and 75% throttle and I removed it for a more fluid movement of the throttle, that might be the cause for the issue. But the shaking is still very minor so I guess I'll just go on with it since it's not there all the time.

I used electronic contact cleaner on my MFD backlight roller controller as it was not dimming and lighting smoothly...it helped.

Yes, and try and insert the red straw a little into the slot opening and block the rest of the slot with your finger so when you spray... it wont' shoot out.

Alright, thanks :joystick:

I'm now experiencing similar problems on the RY Axis and Slider Axis. Is it possible that all axes on this joystick are simply poorly-produced garbage?

With my X52 Pro:

  1. re-calibration first
  2. followed by adjusting dead zones [if applicable]
  3. and finally cleaner spray...but only as a last resort.

I`ll probably send my joystick back on the weekend and get another X52 pro in replacement. I'll see how it works then.

FYI, I called Saitek yesterday and was told to call Logitech from now on, and Logitech told me they aren't set up yet for serious support.

This is what I use for axis tune on my zoom controls - I use RY on my x52 Pro. The result is maybe not as nice as a continuous adjustment but it then holds the set zoom rock steady. Credit is due to someone else on these forums years ago.

Is the zoom stepped incrementally therefore only giving you as many different zoom levels as you have steps?

Alright thank you I'll try it via amazon where I ordered the joystick, refunds are usually not complicated there so they should be able to send me a new one. Does your ingame throttle not shake at all? Like not even 1%? My shaking is very minor but still annoying since my HOTAS is brand new.

My throttle does not shake, it stays perfectly at what ever % level I have it at.

The throttle slider however shakes noticeably for everyone, nothing to be done about it.

My replacement X52 pro still has the exact same problem, I unboxed it, installed the correct drivers, plugged it in and opened the control panel and it shakes just as my first X52 pro. The difference is that even the X,Y and rudder axis are shaking, so this seems to be a quality issue from saitek. I've ordered the Hotas Warthog now and will send back both of them, this was surely my first and last saitek product.

Sometimes you will find the HOTAS cause the screen to come out of screen saver and/or sleep mode.

I'd ask around about the newer Saitek HOTAS and see if there is any shaking there.
