TigersharkBAS Posted October 3, 2016 Posted October 3, 2016 I really appreciate all the work that has gone into this campaign. The immersion is great. The problem is like most things that are scripted it is just highly susceptible to funky whims of software. First time on mission 2. C130 crashed too far out. Sat on tarmac for 20 mins before I gave up. Second time...c130 crashes close by....get to take off...support troops all the way until dust off....circle for 15 mins....return to base...get a failure message. I don't know...it just seems like an exercise in frustration. How do i know when things are done. What is a show of force at 400m? Does that mean a fly over? Attack them. I want to love this campaign and I can I see a LOT or work in it...but it doesn't feel like a polished product. Not because it doesn;t have good production values but because all kinds of random quirks in scripting mean anything can happen and you end up flying the mission over and over again. Ranger79 Posted October 3, 2016 Posted October 3, 2016 (edited) The C130 crash has changed slightly on this patch, if the C130 crashes and no vehicles respond to the site, it crashed to early, restart the mission. A show of force is asked for by Voodoo 400 feet off the deck of the target area, which means fly over the area under 400 feet. Sometimes things change patch to patch, be patient ill look into the C130 issue. TigersharkBAS Posted October 3, 2016 Author Posted October 3, 2016 thanks for the reply Ranger. Also look into the trigger after the helos report they are back at Suse. I flew around WP2 for 15 mins with nothing telling me what to do. So I RTBed only to get a 50% complete failed result. Also...in mission 1. I RTBed and Hawg to landed and just parked int the middle of the runway preventing other planes to land. Tiger, the taxing AI is a known issue, to get around that you can (1) Have your flight land first or (2) Land and dont shutdown, if the AI get stuck, start to roll to a different spot, I personally park on the SW ramp and wait for the flight to land. I will check Mission 2, the only occasional issue is a premature crash of the C-130. Next time you take off and Pontiac is enroute from Suse to WP2, orbit and go to F2 view of the Chinooks, they should be landing SW of the target AO, takes them awhile to get to the WP though. TigersharkBAS Posted October 4, 2016 Author Posted October 4, 2016 The issue I am talking about is after they take casualties and bug out. I get a report they have dusted off and I continued to circle WP 2 waiting for more orders. I had taken care of the BRDM that was barreling down on the SF forces and some troops in the trees. But after circling around WP2 for 10 mins I gave up and RTBed. Once the majority of troops are down the mission continues. Once the majority of troops are down the mission continues. OK...thanks for that. May I suggest that something is added to inform the player of this? I know changing the voice over is probably not on the table but one of those text hints could mention destroy BRDM and enemy combatants until Whiplash orders you home. Ranger79 Posted October 4, 2016 Posted October 4, 2016 (edited) Voodoo does call for Hawg Flight to engage BRDM and multiple troops who ambush the site. Not adding additional hints at this time. spiddx Posted October 7, 2016 Posted October 7, 2016 Just finished the campaign today and I have to say despite all the things that are going on within the missions I always knew what I was expected to do and never felt lost or anything. The missions are very well designed in that aspect. Just stick to your flight plan, listen to the radio calls and follow your orders and you'll be fine. If nothing happens for a considerate amount of time you have obviously missed something. Sometimes units can be very hard to detect at night or in urban areas but in the worst case you can always fall back to your little cheat card (aka send in the all-seeing, all-knowing wingmen). HF!
