ARM505 Posted October 8, 2006 Posted October 8, 2006 Then you'd better not get FSX - Observe the whine-fest (rightly so it sounds) on the MSFS forums such as avsim.com, as FSX squashes high-end PC's like bugs, to the point that a stock install of FSX (without any addons) must be run at settings that make it look worse than FS9! I am VERY happy sticking to LOMAC, IL2, and FS9 (for the 1 minute average I spend on that per day) right now, thanks Microsoft! At least those run at very playable levels right now.
JG27_Arklight Posted October 8, 2006 Posted October 8, 2006 I get about 25-35 fps with FSX with almost all settings maxed (except autogen and view distance) at 1600x1200 with 4xFSAA and 8xAF. I don't really have any issues with anything other than autogen. I'm really enjoying FSX. :) Ark ------------------ Windows 10 Pro x64 9900K @ 5ghz Gigabyte Aorus Master Z390 32GB G.Skill Trident Z RGB CAS 14 EVGA RTX 2080 Ti Ultra XC2 256gb Samsung 869 Pro (Boot Drive) 1TB - Samsung 970 EVO Plus Seasoninc 1000w Titanium Ultra PSU 34" ASUS PG348

SuperKungFu Posted October 8, 2006 Posted October 8, 2006 btw, how does the addons work in FSX? Especially about new planes, i noticed through the demo there's no longer an "aircraft" folder in the root folder. It got moved to some other folder. So what about previous addons in exe files that installs directly a "aircraft" into the root folder, do we have to manually move it into the new folder. IF that's the case, they really didn't think this product through. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

IF that's the case, they really didn't think this product through. The aircraft are in the Simobjects folder now, along with some of the other object additions. As far as them not really thinking this product through, how current add-ons are installed in this product is a moot issue since current products were not designed for FSX. Just because an exe file can be installed directly, doesn't mean the product will function if the add-on was not designed to work with it. FSX seems to be coded, or set up, a little differently with regards to some things (guages, etc..). FS2004 add-ons were designed to work with FS2004, not FSX. However, some of them seem to function just fine, you just have to "ok" the guages when you fly them for the first time (Carenado 206 and 182Q for instance). :) Ark ------------------ Windows 10 Pro x64 9900K @ 5ghz Gigabyte Aorus Master Z390 32GB G.Skill Trident Z RGB CAS 14 EVGA RTX 2080 Ti Ultra XC2 256gb Samsung 869 Pro (Boot Drive) 1TB - Samsung 970 EVO Plus Seasoninc 1000w Titanium Ultra PSU 34" ASUS PG348
SuperKungFu Posted October 8, 2006 Posted October 8, 2006 But FSX should be backwards compatible based on some of the interviews they had earlier this year. I remember i installed an F-14 into the demo, i had to click ok for gauges several times for each time i want to fly. I think they should have left the folder's where they were at. This applies to both freeware and payware addons. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

This applies to both freeware and payware addons. If they could have left them in the same order I'm sure they would have. I know there are seperate folders for aircraft, animals, rotorcraft, boats, ground vehicles, and misc, all within the Simobjects folder. They may have done this so it is easier to keep track of add-ons and whatnot, but that is just a guess.
