Neon67 Posted November 1, 2016 Posted November 1, 2016 Hi guys I am looking for an article stating that some of the original blueprints were lost, and to produce new wing part for the A 10 they needed to use 3d scans for the process of reverse engineering Does anyone have the link perhaps ?
Hummingbird Posted November 2, 2016 Posted November 2, 2016 That sounds extremely unlikely, but if true all I can say is: Wow....
frixon28 Posted November 2, 2016 Posted November 2, 2016 I could not believe that the hundreds of copy's of blueprints where all lost. Where did you hear this from?

Using 3-D modeling provided the baseline engineering foundation for the A-10 Wing Replacement program. http://www.boeing.com/defense/support/a-10-wing-replacement-program/index.page Hope that sheds light on all this. 63 My CAS (Close air support) JTAC Channel: RIFLE - YouTube RIFLE's Discord: https://discord.gg/cmDCrr4Z2g Publications JTAC Bible (see/know chapter #5) https://fas.org/irp/doddir/dod/jp3_09_3.pdf J-FIRE pocket guide (Don't do battle without it!) Neon67 Posted November 3, 2016 Author Posted November 3, 2016 (edited) well not so unlikely Those parts which I was thinking about were not directly produced by the main manufacturer but another small contractor working for the main manufacturer. The A10 service time limit has been several time extended and some of those contractors were not expecting it or do not exists anymore IIRC Edited November 3, 2016 by Neon67
