Tommy_M_Gunns Posted February 12, 2017 Posted February 12, 2017 Hello Everyone, As everyone in this thread (I suppose), I'm really enjoying the F-5E and of course, I'm willing to learn the best (ok, let's say at least a correct) way to use the GBU's. I have made several attempts with an offline mission I created. Everything looks good on the paper but once in flight, I never got the bombs to acquire the laser guidance, they just fall like unguided ones. I get all radio clearance from the JTAC with correct laser code ( 1688 ) but it still does no good. My question is: does it come from my mission edition, or is there a flight parameter I should be aware of, such like min/max altitude or speed ? Thanks for any response, you get the mission file attached just in case. Cheers! I tried your mission. Both bombs fell at a point BETWEEN the JTAC and the target, which means something is blocking the laser at that point. I could see any elevation changes that might block it, but something is. I moved the JTAC to the other side of the target (to the railroad tracks) and i hit the Target. JTACs seem to do better when they are at a higher elevation then the target. I still have issues from time to time where they don't report line of sight issues but I still have to move them to get them to a spot where they will lase effectively. 1
swiss_lipo Posted February 12, 2017 Posted February 12, 2017 Fire in the hole ! Thanks Tommy , your advice really worked. I will keep in mind this when placing Jtac on my future missions. Maybe some issue with terrain mesh or something. Flying the Tiger is becoming even more exciting every day !
