PeroperoDokkiri Posted December 10, 2016 Posted December 10, 2016 Hi! I know IRL Huey just have Force Trim button (and release ofc), but since we are flying a sim, I like to tweak my Force Trim (I use FFB) with Trim Hat. However it is really tricky, because it is too sensitive. For example pressing LEFT Hat Switch the cyclic even for a moment moves cyclic enough to make a helicopter bank a lot. Would it be possible to make that trimming move a bit slower? It works the same with Mi-8 BTW. Thanks! [sIGPIC]http://i55.tinypic.com/21oydlx.jpg[/sIGPIC] ヒューイ最高!o(≧∇≦o)
heloguy Posted December 11, 2016 Posted December 11, 2016 I guess the first question would be, how are you implementing a trim hat? Are you using the left/right/forward/aft cyclic commands in the game, or are you using an external program like SIMFFB? If you are assigning your trim hat to the cyclic movement commands in game, this is probably not going to work very well. I tried that with the Ka-50, and found the movement with the trim switch to be way to excessive. I have used SIMFFB in the past, and found it to be adequate, although unrealistic in adding a trim hat to the Huey. I eventually quit using it, as I find having buttons available on the grip more useful than having the trim hat. I usually turn off the force trim switch in the cockpit if I'm doing anything that requires precision. i9 12900k @ 4.9ghz, 64gb RAM Nvidia RTX 3090 Windows 11 x64 Pimax Crystal VP Force Rhino w/RS F16GRH, Virpil TCS Rotor Plus AH-64 Collective, BRD F1 Pedals, WH Throttle, FSSB R3 w/WH Grip, PointCTRL v2
PeroperoDokkiri Posted December 11, 2016 Author Posted December 11, 2016 Hi! Thanks for answer! I love SIMFFB, but it is only usefull as Force Trim, it doesn't allow for any hat adjustments (bummer). The reason why I need hat to fine tune force trim is because I use G940, and I have a slight FFB "losenes" if I simply press Force Trim button (like a 2cm diameter area, so when I let the joysick go it doesn't stay ecaxtly when I left it). When I press Hat trim left/right fwd/bckward couple times, the joystick's FFB gets a bit tighter and keeps it in place. It is really usefull on long hauls, especially if I need to check map, or tune radios. Cheers! [sIGPIC]http://i55.tinypic.com/21oydlx.jpg[/sIGPIC] ヒューイ最高!o(≧∇≦o)

To help with the trim deadzone issue with the g940 you can try to rebalance the stick a bit better than logitech managed. Add some kind of spacers on the bottom front of the stick base to make it less front heavy, I've center-mounted my stick on my chair and balanced it so it stays put whenever I let go even without force trim. Helps a lot for precision. 1 Otter
PeroperoDokkiri Posted December 11, 2016 Author Posted December 11, 2016 Damn, I don't know what to say. THANK YOU, I never knew "progressive trim" works like that, LOL. SIMFFB FTW! [sIGPIC]http://i55.tinypic.com/21oydlx.jpg[/sIGPIC] ヒューイ最高!o(≧∇≦o)
