Any tips for completing this one in the F-86?

After you kill the Il-76 did you guys actually run away from the MiGs or did you fight them on the spot. I tried running away 5 times now as it is suggested by the mission but I find that pretty much impossible with the MiGs-21s being way faster and having near sniper accuracy.

I didn't even get back to the silver mines yet despite doing heavy evasive maneuvers. Seems like Relic 1's incredible luck in this campaign has finally run out. ^^

I guess I'll try dogfighting the two bastards next. That sounds like fun. smile.gif Too bad the rather long setup for the action in this mission gets pretty tedious by now...

Thx for any help provided.

Before I get to the pointers, let me explain that there's a way you can do away with the long "set-up" times. It's what I did when creating and testing this mission, and others. (It would have driven me insane to have to fly that long just to test the last few parts of the mission time and time again).

Say you played the mission, and failed (or passed and wanted to play it again, haha) click "Watch Track" on that debriefing page. This takes you back into the mission, but everything you did is going to play back. So no need to fire up the aircraft and taxi out, take off, and fly the route. Just sit back and watch your past self do it all. However ... you can accelerate time :) Fast Forward to the part where you want to fly it again, hit Esc, and click on "Take Control" There you have it :)

Now here's some pointers:

You can certainly try and dog fight ... but that might be rather difficult. When I ran from them, I always skimmed the ground (less than 100 ft or so) and also constantly maneuvered a bit (still tracking the headings that were suggested though) The A.I. has a hard time getting a firing solution on you if you do this. Or that's what I found at least.

Thanks for the tip with the track, could have thought of that myself. :music_whistling: Nevertheless I passed the mission just now on my next try.

Fighting the MiGs worked out quite well for me thanks to the predictable AI always trying to turn-fight. ^^ Managed to kill one and heavily damage the other guy when I ran out of ammo. He RTBed after that. I reached Beslan with about 100lbs of fuel in the tank when I spotted Relic 2 amd 3 on final! :cry_2:Might have cut them off just a little bit on the landing there. Sorry guys! :D

And just for clarification: I didn't mind the longer set-up of the mission at all! In fact I love these more elaborate things and wish more missions in DCS had that. It was just that after several attempts it became a bit of a hassle. But should you decide to make more missions for DCS please keep that stuff.

Now on to the final one!
