Hello everyone, here is one of my wishes/suggestions for DCS World. Please note it is from perspective of mostly single player and occasional "server for few friends" host. So:

 

While adding aircraft/helicopter group, under SKILL menu we can choose if it is controlled by different skilled AI, or player/client. Could there be another option: "AI unless Client"? I mean, slot would be always occupied by AI, unless client takes over it.

 

Example 1 - Simple 2 vs 2 dogfight: There will be just 1 mission file with 2 red and 2 blue "AI unless Client" slots, and there will always be 4 planes activated, no matter how many human players will join the session, and they could choose coalitions as well.

 

Example 2 - Enemy airbase attack mission: There is fighter sweep/escort group, SEAD grop, runway attack group, other ground strike group for one coalition and BARCAP/Intercept group for other. There would be always all positions occupied, and you alone or with your friends could always choose any sortie you like.

 

This "AI unless Client" skill option is ment primarily for single players or small groups of friends on private "LAN style" servers.

 

So, what is your opinion?

I find this a very good idea. It would remove the need for separate SP / MP versions of missions, and help keep a constant aircraft amount in the air for every mission.

 

Not something for every mission perhaps (if you don't want any AI on a given flight under any circumstances) but this would indeed bring more flexibility to mission making.
