Spades_Neil Posted March 4, 2017 Posted March 4, 2017 I apologize if this has already been reported. I tried searching for it, but couldn't find it on the forum. As a developer myself, you'd be amazed how many bugs go unfixed even though everyone knows they exist, but no one arsed to report them. Anyway, when you lock AI planes, they instantly flick on their ECM. All player aircraft need a warm-up time before their ECM becomes active. Then when their ECM becomes active, the lock is instantly broken and the AI instantly flicks their ECM back off. This makes it impossible to lock AI-controlled targets outside of the ECM burn range in Russian jets. This obviously isn't an intended functionality, or human players could flicker their ECM on and off at will as well. I imagine it can't be a very difficult fix, and I'd like to see this small but irritating annoyance that has been with us for years to be fixed in the next patch. :smilewink: If it turns out it isn't actually so simple to fix, I'm curious as to why.
red_coreSix Posted March 6, 2017 Posted March 6, 2017 It's actually a feature. Basically what it's imitating is defensive-deceptive-ECM. In reality deceptive jammers don't need a warm up time like in DCS. That was done to prevent the exact thing you described, flicking ECM on and off. The AI just recently went to this "lock-breaker" ECM to make things more realistic, I guess (it's still far from realistic EW modeling but better than before).
Sweep Posted March 6, 2017 Posted March 6, 2017 Would be nice if we could do that too... Lord of Salt
