firesoldier845 Posted November 19, 2006 Posted November 19, 2006 ok my hands down favorite plane is the plain vanilla SU-25 I been playing it for years and love it. my daughter broke my HOTAS shortly after FC came out and up until about a month ago I was ground pouding the SU-25 on a cheap logitech joystick. can't believe I put off get a replacement HOTAS for so long but I finally scrapped up enough cash for X52 and now I'm back. so now that I got all the fancy buttons wanted to take my shots at the SU-25T. For the most part I got it figured out but a few things not so sure of and they don't seem to be covered in the manual unless I skipped over them. As for the IR countermeasures lamp on the rear of the plane. Are there any negative aspects of using this? In particular when playing online if I accidentily left it on would it make me easier to spot by other players using EOS or even the AI? To set my axis in the input section its recommended linear axis. Should I have a small deadzone as well? I also have rudder pedals should those be linear too or have that curve in them like all the other default settings. Is there anyway to use one of the dials on my X52 to deflect the gun pods manually? Do u take off with flaps 1 notch or full flaps or does it depend on loadout? What is typical takeoff speed fully loaded - rotate speed? Any clue how much trim would be optimal for takeoff (i know its kinda hard to describe but like a few clicks up trim or a whole bunch) Whats the range fully fueled I can't seem to find it in manual? What about with the drop tanks? How do I know when my drop tanks are empty? Would like to know cause some of the online missions the waypoints are pretty damn far. I could probably test this myself but the fire bombs - there is the fuel air explosive one and the fire one ZAB whatever it is. What can those take out? Are they useful for anything? Why or what would I want to use those on more than cluster bomb or HE bomb?? Thanks I am sure will have more questions as I learn this plane.

There is a place in the joystick config in windows to put some in (more configurable as well) Is there anyway to use one of the dials on my X52 to deflect the gun pods manually? --Yes. There is an axis setting you can use for this (I use the slider for it), I don't remember which axis though. I will look for you . . . I'm sure someone else will jump in and answer the other questions . . .
VapoR Posted November 19, 2006 Posted November 19, 2006 Ok, looks like "target specified size" controls the barrel depression when gunpods are selected.

Kuky Posted November 19, 2006 Posted November 19, 2006 I never actually used the IR Jammer on Su-25T, but I assume like yourself that it would make you easier to see when someone is using EOS, the same way you're shown on EOS at much greater range when using afterburners. AI cheats anyway so they would know you're there regardless, I think :D Edit:seems that Ruggbut knows more about these IR Jammers so please disregard my answer :D I never use trim when taking off either because I don't know how much I'd need it as it dends on wind streanghts and direction (if any). If there is no wind it's pretty easy to take off anyway and you don't need any trim. Once you're airborne you should trim for level flight, or you could just use auto stabiliser ("H" button) which will auto trim for lever flight for you. buttons "ALT -" and "ALT =" are for deflecting the gun pods, but this will only work if you select gun pods only (not the centre gun) because the centre gun can't be deflected. To select gun pods use "CTL SPC". In cockpit look left bottom dial to see your selection. Fuel tanks are as far as I remeber 800Kg of fuel. Internal capacity is about 3800Kg, so this makes it a total MAX fuel of 5400Kg. You will know your fuel tanks are empty once your fuel capacity reads 3800Kg. Then you can drop your fuel tanks. Range varies on your altitude. I think I can do about 200Km on internal fuel, level flight at about 4000m,and possibly another 70-100Km with fuel tanks (it's an estimate). I am talking one way thought, because you'd need to RTB as well ;) About the fire bombs - no idea, I never use them :) RBK-500AO are my choice of cluster bombs :D PC specs: Windows 11 Home | Asus TUF Gaming B850-Plus WiFi | AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D + LC 360 AIO | MSI RTX 5090 LC 360 AIO | 55" Samsung Odyssey Gen 2 | 64GB PC5-48000 DDR5 | 1TB M2 SSD for OS | 2TB M2 SSD for DCS | NZXT C1000 Gold ATX 3.1 1000W | TM Cougar Throttle, Floor Mounted MongoosT-50 Grip on TM Cougar board, MFG Crosswind, Track IR
brewber19 Posted November 19, 2006 Posted November 19, 2006 Good answers Kuky, Internal fuel is 3760kg full and each wing tank is 800Kg. The best check for when to ditch tanks is as Kuky says, when your fuel gauge read 3700 or below, drop them tanks. As for range, well, it really depends on loadout, your climb rate to altitude and your altitude. We (504) have done some really long flights with the T-frog, it can be done, you just need to fly conservatively (no wild steep climbs at max throttle!). Nice to have another Frog pilot on the scene :D ...Fuel tanks are as far as I remeber 800Kg of fuel. Internal capacity is about 3800Kg, so this makes it a total MAX fuel of 5400Kg. 159_Archer Posted November 19, 2006 Posted November 19, 2006 Someone posted this info on the fuel tank status, a while back: The orange symbols to the left of the fuel gauge, indicate what tanks are full/empty. The symbol for each tank is thus: I is inner under-wing tanks II is outer U/W tanks 3/4 is tanks 3 and 4 (internal) U is centre fuselage tank 0.6 emergency fuel (VERY limited...) Tank is empty when symbol 'lit'. BTW, as a rough guide to 25T range, I did a fully laden strike down as far as Sukhumi AB, and with a very short ovet-target time managed to get back on internal only, JUST..... ZoomBoy27 Posted November 19, 2006 Posted November 19, 2006 With respect to the IR Jammer - I asked and one of the DEV team said there's no warm up modelled. In real-life it does take 5-10 minutes to warm up but not in LO:FC. Fuel usage: I had created a mission in a campaign(Adler Secured) and people reported back that they ran out of fuel. So I did some testing After Further testing (per 10KM) - 3500 for non-take-off maneorving 90% throttle and 90% throttle Full Loadout @ 100% - 100 kg ==> 350 km 175km range(little loiter) Full Loadout @ 90% - 75-80 kg ==> 450 km 225km range(little loiter) Stripped @ 100% - 85 kg ==> 410 km 200km range(little loiter) Stripped @ 90% - 65-70 kg ==> 520 km 260km range(little loiter) GLiding downwards at reduced speed subtract 5-10 kg for 10km for 100km trip as in my campaign - 200 kg difference in ingress at full throttle versus slower speed. And when you're over the mountains, you can glide downwards at lower throttle for extra savings. And on egress you can dump your weapons The full discussion is this thread here.
