Hey guys, i was wondering if putting a lot of slots in a multiplayer mission would produce lags once running on a dedicated server or when a client is hosting. How does it affect performance ? I'm talking about 40 to 60 slots and less than 20 players in it at the same time.

I've eared that it does affect performance, and that precharging models with static objects at the begining of the mission could help with that but tbh i'm not even sure

Read your post earlier and am not surprised there wasn't an answer.

The Hollo Pointe server is limited to 16 slots, and it can handle that easily on a 60-80 MB connection. I do run the server stand-alone. Your slot count is far beyond mine. Hope it works out...

Visit the Hollo Pointe DCS World server -- an open server with a variety of COOP & H2H missions including Combined Arms. All released missions are available for free download, modification and public hosting, from my Wrecking Crew Projects site.

The number of slots shouldn't really matter. All it does is makes the mission file marginally larger and depending on the aircraft types, requires the mission to be a tad more complex. Specifically if you had just all A-10C slots then you could make a mission focusing on air to ground tasks, if you added the F-15C in there then you should have something for those F-15Cs to do.

There will be a performance impact to actually playing the game in an aircraft vs as a dedicated server locked to the map view. It adds extra rendering and flight physics that normally wouldn't be there. Can't really quantify exactly what that means, but it exists and your PCs specs would have an impact.

The right man in the wrong place makes all the difference in the world.
