It seems odd to me that these work in SP or as the MP host but not when you join a MP game. How does that one little fact change the game engine enough to break the Bk90s? Sadly, other than anti-ship (which the Viggen owns until the F/A-18 eventually shows up with the Harpoon), the Viggen needs this stand off weapon to live in the modern battlefield against ground tank formations, infantry and SAMS. Every time I take to the skies in the Viggen, I'm lucky if I kill anything much less RTB alive. This is where the BK90s are needed...badly. I gave the Viggen a rest the other day and got in the A-10C. I killed two formations with CB105s, fired six mav kills, and still had my gun for another 10-15 targets. I even killed three choppers with sidewinders and guns, got shot by another player, hit by ground fire, lost an engine, lost my gear, and still landed safely. I'm not saying the Viggen should be an A-10, but so far the only damage model seems to be "disintegrate and crash." That being said, you can't put the Viggen in harms way. It makes me wonder what the niche is and why a Mig-21 or any other fighter isn't an equally good bomb truck. Maybe I'm just flying too high. I placed four SA-19's to practice bomb running at 100m and they fired at me before I got there every time....every time. Edited March 15, 2017 by dores893
lemoen Posted March 16, 2017 Posted March 16, 2017 The next update has a fix for this (it'll work like a big bomb in MP for the moment). However, there's a wider issue in multiplayer with cluster bombs. They make the FPS tank in a really bad way. Also, 100m is too high for SA-19. You need to fly low, pop up into the launch height for BK90s then fly low again. Low on the modern battlefield means 10m or less. Hint: It's dangerous but safer than those SAMs.
microvax Posted March 16, 2017 Posted March 16, 2017 Going in SA19 gun range is suicide. Full stop. There is like no way to survive more then 1 SA19 at best and even that is close to impossibruh. You can at best trick the engagement rules to switch between guns and missiles and buy you some time. RB05 and Mavs are your friend. With that you can take out mostly anything. RB05 tend to work better against high end SAMs though. The viggen has proper a2g functionality in comparison to $fighter trucking bombs. Also once we have a proper BK90 implementation, they wont scratch tanks, will reck light armor though. :) Just a badly executed example, can be timed a lot better. RB05 basically are considered as a target/threat by the SAM. As BK90s should be as well, didnt test if bk90s also get shot. Here an example of flying low enough to actually gun high end SAMs. Throwing Mavericks or spoofing SAMs with rb05 is a lot safer though. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] *unexpected flight behaviour* Oh shiii*** ! dores893 Posted March 16, 2017 Author Posted March 16, 2017 I can evade SA-19s no problem by climbing and turning. They can't match my rate of climb if I'm supersonic at sea level. However, there is no way I can continue a bomb run with 4 SAMs in the air. I have noticed that they all fire at the Rb05. Sadly, I can't control the Rb05 worth a flip. I have no spatial awareness of its distance to target by simply looking at the flare. Right now, I'm focusing on Mavs with gun pods as possibly the best all around strike combo. I've considered dive bombing in CCIP mode like you would on a fighter, but I haven't found that functionality in the Viggen, which seems made for level bombing. I've considered toss bombing, but it seems pretty difficult. Anything to get me out of gun/IR SAM range is a good thing.

TOSS bombing is something I'm currently trying to use for attacks on SAM-defended aifields. If using iron bombs, against SAM/AAA defended mechanized infantry, a low level <10m ingress at M.8 with high drag bombs for a one pass. The BK90, always, but if your in multi player, I guess they need fixing. I agree about the Hog! However, with any kind of air force against you, your not going to last for very long at 250 knots at GBU release altitude....Mig 21 fodder:-) The Viggen was the Sweedish Tornado. Designed to repel a Cold War WP attack, against known targets or FEBA. So its in fast and low (Mig 21 can't see you with no look down, GCI won't see you below 40m) and hit the target, then out fast and low. Only advanced Russian AWACS may pick you up, then a SU27/Mig29 may get a vector on your route? But by that time you should be back over your lines. Great aircraft simulation. We also need the anti ship codes fixing....?
