Nevada 2.0, high/ultra settings, 1080p - 3.5-4.5GB Vid Ram.

I went from a 970-1070 and saw a noticeable improvement. 6GB of vid ram should be your minimum. 8 to be safe

I run 1440p with a 4GB 980GTX

Frames are between 70-170fps, mstly high/extreme but shadows medium/flat and water medium.

My VRAM is like 100% right from the start, either version usually.

RAM btw usually 12GB RAM and about same SWAP file usage ( BF Server for instance )

I didn't bother with VRAM usage, but 1440p is easily reachable from a 970GTX upwards. Very playable and smooth, unless you go overboard with the settings.

Current specs: Windows 10 Home 64bit, i5-9600K @ 3.7 Ghz, 32GB DDR4 RAM, 1TB Samsung EVO 860 M.2 SSD, GAINWARD RTX2060 6GB, Oculus Rift S, MS FFB2 Sidewinder + Warthog Throttle Quadrant, Saitek Pro rudder pedals.

Hello, I'm to get a 1060 and wonder to choose 3GB or 6GB VRAM to run with a 7600 + 16 GB RAM.

Price difference is not small. Some tell DCS ask for sometimes more then 4,5Gb VRAM. But are 6GB or more VRAM are required or just advised ?

We miss real tests witth different VRAM configuration to be sure.

Regards

Peplum.

Peplum, currently version 2.1 is unoptimized, and needs a lot of hardware to run properly. There also appears to be a memory leak of some kind, though that is connected as much with system memory as it is with VRAM. These are all software problems though, that may or may not be fixed in the future.

I would say that for DCS you want to get the best possible graphics card you can afford. If you can get a 6GB 1060GTX, go for it. However if you can save a little bit more and buy a 1070GTX that would be an even better choice. I would stay away from a 3GB version, as the textures and graphics settings in DCS seem to require at least 4GB to display at a proper quality level without a lot of FPS loss.
