BitMaster Posted March 27, 2017 Posted March 27, 2017 Despite not noted, my RAM now primes out-of-the-box on XMP, it didn't do that with the 2 earlier versions. Optane support, SSD Plextor fix, some minor other fixes. dhevans79 Posted March 27, 2017 Posted March 27, 2017 lol, my supplier sent the Plextor RTM and gave me a refund. Apparently a lot of the others who had bought Plextor NVMe also had issues. The shop pretty much believes its a manufacture issue at Plextor. It would be amusing to find that it was just a BIOS update for Asus that fixed it. In the meantime I'm more than happy with the replacement Samsung 960 Evo. It took a manual force of the bios setting from Auto to Gen 3. on the MB, but once done it was lightning quick. BitMaster Posted March 27, 2017 Author Posted March 27, 2017 (edited) This with the newest Bios and Blender 27.8c at 150er setting ( rendering ). NOT BAD... 31,5 sec CPUZ is a bit off..my fault..its at 800MHz idle...its 5.2/3866 Edited March 27, 2017 by BitMaster Gigabyte Aorus X570S Master - Ryzen 5900X - Gskill 64GB 3200/CL14@3600/CL14 - Sapphire Nitro+ 7800XT - 4x Samsung 980Pro 1TB - 1x Samsung 870 Evo 1TB - 1x SanDisc 120GB SSD - Heatkiller IV - MoRa3-360LT@9x120mm Noctua F12 - Corsair AXi-1200 - TiR5-Pro - Warthog Hotas - Saitek Combat Pedals - Asus XG27ACG QHD 180Hz - Corsair K70 RGB Pro - Win11 Pro/Linux - Phanteks Evolv-X
BitMaster Posted March 27, 2017 Author Posted March 27, 2017 It seems that with the new Bios I need 1.3500 vCore adaptive to keep it stable with the newest prime95 v29.10 :( Maybe therefor it will allow me stable 3866 now that the RAM support seems to have improved. This is still a tricky ride, don't think Intel's chipsets are less troublesome tweaking than AMD Ryzen I guess. Slow RAM works out of the box with non-overclocked CPU's. As soon as you leave that path trial & error begins, from scratch at it seems with each new Bios. Passing that Ryzen promoted Blender test is one thing, it even works at 5.2-3866....getting 5.0-3600 prime-stable is totally different thing. ooops..99°C ahhhhhhh prime..........jesus & maria !!!! priming while I type...100 °°°°°C !!! enuff...stopped..but no error ...just 2°C from throttling...those 0.02volts.... maybe reverting the Bios, dunno, I dont need Optane nor any other fix but rather have 5G at less volts stable...or delid ! Asus ! I am surprised that you haven't gone down the delid route. The 7700k's run a fair bit hotter than the 7600k's and when targeting 5Ghz plus for long term use I would definitely be inclined to take the risk to increase CPU longevity. Agreed, absolutely....I am just damn busy and dont want to take it apart right NOW :) Thing is, at 5G and everyday load it just hits 70°C and that's fine for now. I also dont run it 5G 24/7 but boot standard and only OC for DCS, for any other game even the powerprofile "balanced" is by far sufficient..it clocks to 4.5 out of the box...enough for most games, if not any. I fear that the liquid metal TIM will need to be redone after 2 years and I still havent made up my mind if and how I reattach the IHS, with or w/o silicon glue... Prime95AVX is the only app that pushes it beyond 100°C ..BUT...it never failed..thats a good sign. I can reach 5.2 without a glitch, even game at that speed and pass moderate stress tests, so I really think I had some luck in the lottery and this CPU definitely wants to run FAST, delidded :P I justbhave so little time at hand that I dont even get to flying DCS these days, I play some WoWarships sometimes to calm down...big battleships cruise slowly haha. I am reorientating my business, might move and maybe have some longterm idea for gear as the companies I work with do similar gear, but at a much larger scale. Talked to my buddy last night till 1am and we adressed a few things we want to do if time allows....I will have to see where this all leads to but it sounds prosperous. Cant say more right now as all is still very very early and many dependencies, as usual. ...fixing an exchange server...how I hate those beasts... time to change my field of work now ;) Gigabyte Aorus X570S Master - Ryzen 5900X - Gskill 64GB 3200/CL14@3600/CL14 - Sapphire Nitro+ 7800XT - 4x Samsung 980Pro 1TB - 1x Samsung 870 Evo 1TB - 1x SanDisc 120GB SSD - Heatkiller IV - MoRa3-360LT@9x120mm Noctua F12 - Corsair AXi-1200 - TiR5-Pro - Warthog Hotas - Saitek Combat Pedals - Asus XG27ACG QHD 180Hz - Corsair K70 RGB Pro - Win11 Pro/Linux - Phanteks Evolv-X
