Pilotasso Posted November 26, 2006 Posted November 26, 2006 I voted no, but I am not 100% convinced the ET is to powerfull in the game. The long-range maddog is certainly a cheat, but mostly when I have been downed by an ET missile, it was fired by an opponent I was engaging within the 10 miles zone (since otherwise you can't fire any amraams). I think the cheat is not significant. There is reason to believe that the ET is as lethal as it is, when you don't use the launch override. No one needs extra ET's though. It would just reduce the game to a medium range amraam/et spamming orgy. The ET can and should be fired at 10 miles. Usualy in conjuction with a radar missile to maximize PK where an R-73 would just fall short. If you fire at 10 miles theres not much once can say its too powerfull except if you do it at 20 miles with no lock when it will kill the target much further away than the AMRAAM will because once alerted to its presence its too easely avoidable. If you see the stats of servers online the ET is the most successfull missile on the russian side, not only because its too powerfull but also due to the radar missiles shortcommings in this game and the lazyness of the players to use better tactics than sniping people out of the air while flying low and slow. IRL pilots would laugh at you if you chose the ET as your primary BVR weapon. .
TucksonSonny Posted November 26, 2006 Posted November 26, 2006 It is part of a tactic: ECM ON, 2xER’s, ECM OFF, 1xET, 1xR73 launched in this order gives almost 1 kill guaranteed! With this tactic you can have 2 kills. Anyway I prefer ECM ON, 2xER, ECM OFF, 1xER, 2xET, 2xR73. . There is no need to have more short leg IR-missiles and have less long range ER’s. If you try to lope 10 ET’s, the weight and the drag will result in a serious drawback. Anyhow I think the Su-30 can have 4 ET’s by default (or was that the Su-35/37 from my memory).
