rotors and props causing hud/cockpit squiggle wierdness

I'm coming across some wierd artifacting and I wanted to check if its a known thing or if theres something to fix it. I've got a gtx980 and updated nvidia drivers and fps wise is fine in the rift, but when I have a hud element behind a prop, or even some cockpit bits that look like they fall in a rotor shadow it causes this wierd double artifacting squiggle.

 

most noticable is on the spitfire. When the sight is on I can see it fine, but theres a second duplicate sight that does this crazy squiggle effect. Its most noticable on hud elements, but after trying out the black shark this morning I can find bits of the cockpit that have this same duplicate squiggle thing going on. any ideas?

Its the Rifts way of ensuring high frame rates, called ASW. It locks FPS to 90/45.

However it causes graphical "weirdness" on the prop graphic. Disable it by hitting Ctrl and No.1 on the keypad.

And reenable it with ctrl + num 4.

I always turn it off. :) try it a few seconds but i can't bear the artifacts. It's too bad really, as it's a very nice feature!

I've been reporting the unrealistic prop & rotor shadows in DCS for a long time, but so far it hasn't been fixed. Other flightsims don't have this issue when the props are modelled correctly as the human eye sees them (blurred disc, not a flashing object).

This case in perticular is a Oculus ASW thing, not DCS shadow thing. :) though some "static" rotary shadows in DCS would reduce the artifacts.

 

But IMO the shadows are OK in themselves.

(I've flown helicopters quite a bit.) :)

The Spitfire prop shadow definitely isn't OK. The other WWII airplanes are passable.

 

Rotor shadows in DCS cause distortions because they are a simple shadow below a static prop. So at 60 (or 90, or 45 FPS depending on the settings), you get few clear frames without any shadow, and one with perfect sharp shadow like the prop is stationary. In real life the way human eye perceive helicopter rotors is not that simple.
