Just wondering if its more like a keypress or a slew (I'm using the wathog throttle)

More like a slew. I have set the Axis for TDC vertical and inverted the Y Axis.

I've been using the coolie hat beside the slew until now and am quite used with it (actually I prefer it as the cursor stops dead when you let it go whereas the slew slows down before stopping when you let it go. I was just curious that's all.

Whatever floats your boat sir :) For me I am it was important to get the slew control working due to being accustomed to it for MAV and TGP control on the A-10C. I hoped that I could map it for the Mirage as well. Thankfully it is possible. The first few hours I spent getting used to reversed controls but then I noticed the Axis setup menu which allows you to invert the axis.

 

So If you push the slew control down the cursor will also move down and vice versa. For horizontal movement it is not necessary to invert the axis.

 

PS: In the beginning I had DMS on my HOTAS setup for the cursor as I wasn't aware how to map the Slew control :D
