Vekkinho Posted December 7, 2006 Posted December 7, 2006 Hello all, This was perhaps mentioned before but here I come again. While flying RUSFOR jets in FC 1.12a I can't get no replies from GCI/EWR guys. I place active EWR somewhere on the map and few bogies enter it's detection range but I can't get no info from radar guys. Aren't they suposed to act just like A-50 AWACS, with voice comms and radar datalinks?!! Thanks! [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Vekkinho Posted December 7, 2006 Author Posted December 7, 2006 Well, the datalink ain't workin' here! [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Vekkinho Posted December 7, 2006 Author Posted December 7, 2006 No, they're directly above:helpsmilie:EWR, and I turn my radar on to pick up datalink but nothing happens. The only way to become aware of target's relative position is by using onboard radar. This cancels 'stealth' approach strategy. I can't rely on GCI at this point like I can with airborne Mainstay, so in order to stay hidden I must use terrain (canyons, valleys), then using EOS to pinpoint my target and approach from it's 6. In RL most of the Russian cold war era interceptor aircraft depend on GCI, they have no datalinks (god's eye projected on MFD) but they have voice comms with eachother. Radar guys coordinate and give pilots instructions on target's position, heading and alt in order to make the intercept. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Stealth_HR Posted December 7, 2006 Posted December 7, 2006 Didn't GCI use to work in LO1.02? I remember us talking it over coffee, Vekkinho, and for some reason the functionality is missing from FC. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Real men fly ground attack :pilotfly: where EVERYTHING wants a piece of you :D
